Chateau De Montpezat at Occitanie
Everything will be tailored to your needs at this impeccably designed chateau in Midi-Pyrénées. Perfect for a grand family holiday, this chateau and farmhouse down the lane will house 20 guests in the midst of 40 hectares of French forests. The staff here (security guard, concierge, and maid) will make your stay flawless; you’ll have pure peace of mind on your chateau holiday. The owner, Jean Francois, began a decade-long renovation of this 1520’s castle in 1998, and the fruits of his labour are rich indeed. The opulent blend of old and new styles will please the most discerning guests - from the bathroom lounges, to the ultramodern suite beneath the eaves. The nearest groceries and restaurants are in the village with more options 8 km away in the riverside spa town of Salies du Salat. Toulouse is a 45 minute drive away, and is not to be missed. If you fly into the airport here, plan to also take in the arts and architecture of France's 4th largest city. Privacy, luxury and comfort are at the heart of the historic chateau. The chateau offers seven wonderful suites, six of the bedrooms offer queen or king size while one of them offers two spacious single beds. Three additional bedrooms are located in the farmhouse just a few steps from the main building. In 2008, we effectively finished renovating the chateau by creating a spectacular 7th suite under the rooftop, with 5-meter high ceilings. The historical rooms have been decorated over a ten-year time-frame by the current owner and are unique in style, offering a cosy feeling and charm. The seventh room, however, is “outrageously” modern as you will see in the photographs, with contemporary art, a design bed and 50′s and 60′s Brazilian furniture. Aside from suite N°7, all the bathrooms offer large “retro” bathtubs. The living areas include two dining rooms, a living room and a billiard room. There is also a fully functional office/business centre. The historical Salle des Gardes (Guards room) has merely changed over the past five centuries. Initially a room where the castle‘s personnel cooked and guards came for some heat by its massive fireplace, it has become the primary dining room and remains the true heart of the Chateau. The red Living Room’s environment is marked by XIXth century Gothic revival: the massive chimney was redone at the time, while the wooden paneling adds a warm feeling to the place. There is also the formal Yellow Dining Room. The office offers a quiet space for work, communication and reading. It offers internet access and is equipped with a MAC (with all commonly-used software), a printer and a fax-machine. Located on the chateau’s top floor, the Billiard Room is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of Armagnac after dinner. It is also the “TV room”: its large television set has access to major international channels through satellite connection, and guests enjoy a large choice of DVDs. The chateau’s heated pool (16x6 meters) is open from May until October and is the ideal place to enjoy those precious and rare moments of “far niente”. Fishing and hunting are among the other activities available on site, depending on the season. Most other sports are available nearby, including tennis, horseback riding, gold, ski and summer mountain sports.
