West Gallaton Farmhouse

A beautiful cottage, just over 2 miles south of Stonehaven, with stunning views over open rural landscape all the way to the sea. It comfortably sleeps up to 5 adults in one double, one twin and one single bedroom. Outside, the farmhouse has a large, fully-enclosed, sunny terrace with garden furniture. There is parking space for two or three cars. On the ground floor there is a spacious, fully equipped dining kitchen, cosy lounge with wood-burning stove, bathroom and small single bedroom. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms, one with a king size bed and one with two single beds. The double room also has a small separate dressing room. Most rooms have sea views. WiFi is provided, but as this is a rural property, the internet can be unreliable. There is good 4G coverage. The house and terrace are exclusively for guests use. We live next door so someone is usually around to answer any questions or sort any problems quickly. We are 2 miles south of Stonehaven and 20 miles south of Aberdeen. Stonehaven has all the facilities you would expect: shops, restaurants, pubs, playparks, indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, golf course, putting green, and of course its famous open air heated swimming pool. The town has a beautiful harbour which is lively in the summer with families paddling, sailing, kayaking or just sitting on the harbour wall enjoying a drink. Dunnottar castle is nearby and it is possible to walk there from the house, then along the cliffs and down to the harbour. During the summer a land train operates from the town to the harbour and up to the castle. As we are a rural property, a car is really necessary. However, we do have guests who choose to come without one and are happy to walk or cycle everywhere. We are right on National Cycle Route 1, and there is loads of great cycling, both on and off road. There is no public transport in the immediate area, but it is a 5 minute taxi ride into town. Stonehaven has a railway station on the Aberdeen to Dundee/Edinburgh line. Aberdeen airport is a 25 minute drive away. We welcome quiet, well-behaved pets, but they must not be left alone either inside or outside the house. They must be kept downstairs and are not allowed up on the furniture - the stairgate can be used if necessary. The terrace is fully enclosed, however pets must be kept on a lead if walking in the surrounding countryside as there is livestock in the fields. The cost of any damage or extra cleaning may be deducted from the security deposit.
