Charming cottage located in a peaceful country setting with all shops nearby
THE LOCATION Situated in an ideal spot deep in the breton countryside, but only a few kilometres from the coast and beautiful beaches. A few minutes' drive north will take you to the medieval village which was voted the most beautiful village in France in 2016: Rochefort-en-Terre. A few minutes' drive south will take you to the banks of the river Villaine including the Port de Foleux and La Roche-Bernard, 2 lovely sites of outstanding beauty. Other touristic delights await you in the gorgeous walled medieval port of Vannes not forgetting the megaliths of Carnac and Gavrinis South-West of Vannes and the "Parc naturel de la Briere" to the South. The most beautiful location in the region is however the famous “Golfe du Morbihan” with its countless islands and splendid beaches. For golf lovers, there is even a golf course in the nearby village of Caden and it is only 5km to the nearest major supermarket. THE ACCOMMODATION The accommodation consists of two rooms: the lounge/kitchenette and a large bedroom, which provide a charming retreat attached to the main house. This means that we, the owners, are on hand to help out with any requests for information or to help with difficulties including language problems since we are both bilingual English-French. The bedroom is a vast, airy space overlooking the Bêganne countryside. Comprising two double beds and a double futon, the bedroom is be suitable for two couples or a family. A fold-away cot can be provided for a baby. The bathroom is en-suite as you can see from the photos. The Velux window above the second bed is fitted with a black-out blind to shield your eyes from the sun at dawn. Guests with small children should be aware that the spiral staircase leading to the bedroom is rather steep and they are advised to take precautions to avoid accidents. Downstairs, the dining and lounging room is accessed by your own private entrance door. Everything is provided for casual self catering, with table and chairs for four, all cutlery and crockery, a toaster, coffee machine and kettle and a refrigerator. Cooking is limited to a microwave oven as we don't envisage our holiday makers wanting to cook the Sunday roast when there are so many creperies, and restaurants within driving distance. A high chair can be provided for small children. Then there is the lounge area with a sofa and easy chairs where you can sit and drink beer, cider or wine after a long day's exploring. This room used to be our home-brewery, which is why the place is called "La Brasserie". We still brew beer on the premises. We can offer French lessons by arrangement (tuition fees not included) and Mike can offer "an introduction to brewing your own beer at home" the is no extra charge for this. While the space would accommodate more, we limit occupancy to 4 (or 4 plus an infant) to ensure there is sufficient hot water for showering, etc. Additional accommodation may be available in our self-contained gîte next door, but this is bookable separately and may be already taken so contact us in advance to check availablity. OUTSIDE Part of our large garden has a decked terrace with a picnic table, parasol, sunloungers and a barbecue. Our guests are invited to use this space on the understanding that the dog loves meeting our guests. We are members of Brittany Ferries "Club Voyage" which allows us to recommend friends and associates for a 10% discount of the cost of the crossing. This does not apply to cabins, meals, etc. Danièle and Mike look forward to welcoming you at La Brasserie.
