A Victorian cottage in the heart of the picturesque village of Lindfield with independent coffee shops, pubs, gift shops and restaurants. 3 bedrooms, white picket fence, open log fireplace, open-plan kitchen and patio doors opening onto decked suntrap garden. The garden gate takes you onto Lindfield Common - a huge open green space perfect for jogging, glorious sunset picnics, tennis, children's play park and large duck pond. You'll arrive to a Victorian cottage with white picket fence and red roses arched around the front door. Front door opens to the sitting room which has the original bare brick open log fire place for cosy evenings. Decorated in a trendy-industrial style you'll find wooden floors, shutters, comfortable sofa and quirky lamps. Leading from the sitting room you enter the extended open plan part of the house with spacious kitchen and second sitting area with 3 seater sofa, arm chair and funky pallet style coffee table. Dining table with chair seating is positioned under the sky light for sunny breakfasts, with the patio doors open looking out onto the garden. The garden is half decked and half pebbled giving a beachy feel where you can sit at the bistro style table sipping a glass of wine enjoying all the quirky pots of colourful flowers. Through the garden gate there is a cut through straight onto Lindfield common which is a truly wonderful huge green open space with large oak trees, many park benches, 4 tennis courts (require pre booking) cricket pitch, children's play park and walking paths. So whether you want to get active and start your day jogging, or just get a coffee from one of the independent coffee shops and watch the rest of the village doing so, or take a book and enjoy the peace and calm or a glass of something for the sunsets - the common is there to be enjoyed by all. You can be in Lindfield village high street in less than a 5 minute walk, passing the ducks and geese swimming on the pond on your way. Upstairs in the cottage you will find the master bedroom with double bed, wooden shutters, walk in wardrobe. The second bedroom has bunk beds which are suitable for children or adults (hard to believe I know but they are adult sized and are very comfortable!) and built in wardrobes. Also upstairs is the bathroom with a bath for relaxing soaks and an over the bath shower. The third bedroom is downstairs off the kitchen with a single bed and desk overlooking the garden. Wifi at the house means you can use this room for work very comfortably and stay connected. There’s free parking on the road outside house. Our cottage is a dedicated holiday space, so it is all yours to enjoy. We live just 10 minutes walk away so can be on hand to greet you when you arrive, and will be contactable if you need assistance during your stay. We love this part of Sussex, and know it very well so can happily make suggestions if you are looking for places to sightsee during your stay! As a visiting friend from oversees said to us - 'Lindfield is the perfect English village you see on postcards!'. Only 45 minutes on the train from London to Haywards Heath station 2 miles away (11 mins train from Gatwick; and 15 mins train from Brighton), Lindfield has a beautiful, historic high-street with many of the buildings dating back to the 11th Century. The pavements are wide and tree lined making it a lovely village to walk through sipping a coffee, gazing at the beautiful houses and popping into the quirky independent shops. On your way you pass the large duck pond with fountains - new ducklings! Lindfield is a Fair Trade Village, majority of the businesses are independent. We are spoilt for choice with all independent Coffee Shops, which offer delicious pastries, Sussex cheeses, lovely lunches and one even roasts their own coffee beans on the premises. We also have a wonderful independent specialist wine shop which includes many English wines from the nearby award winning vineyards - they also offer beer on tap so you can take in an empty milk carton to have it filled to take back home if you wish! There are some superb gift and homeware shops, 2 pharmacies, a shoe shop and funky clothes shop. If you want to cook at home, there is a superb award winning butchers, as well as an independent greengrocer, and also a Co-Op (plus Haywards Heath 2 miles away also has a Waitrose and Sainsburys). However if you don't fancy cooking there are 4 great pubs, and an independent restaurant which offers Thai takeaway, as well as an Indian restaurant and a traditional Italian restaurant. All of these amenities are less than 10 mins stroll from our cottage, so once you're here there’s no need to venture anywhere else if you don't wish to! If you do wish to explore the local sites... The fantastically vibrant city of Brighton and its famous beach is only 15 miles away, an easy drive or a very quick train from nearby Haywards Heath Station. The South of England showground which has events throughout the year is 10 mins drive away. Stunning South Downs for walks and photography are only 8 miles away. We are walking distance from the Princess Royal Hospital. If you are flying from elsewhere in the UK or abroad, our cottage is very easily located for Gatwick - the train takes 11 mins from Haywards Heath Station. Or for very early flights Gatwick is a 25 mins affordable taxi ride away If you are a fan of English wine - the following vineyards are all really close by: Ridgeview, Albourne, Bolney, Bluebell, Court Garden. Haywards Heath has an excellent train service into London with direct trains into London Bridge, London Victoria, London Blackfriars and London St Pancras all in under an hour. Our cottage is ideally located to be able to walk everywhere in Lindfield in just a few minutes so you don't need to have a car to visit us. If you arrive by train Haywards Heath station is 2 miles away and has a taxi rank outside, or is a 20 minute walk to us. If you do come by car we are 15 minutes off the M23 junction 10a. Free parking is available on the road outside the cottage.
