Isla Cottage - A charming and Snug Country Retreat
Isla cottage, combines old and traditional charm, with many original features and is tastefully furnished. The house is spacious with plenty of room to entertain family and friends. Those having extended holidays or working away from home, Isla offers every home comfort. There is seating in the front garden to take in the surrounding countryside and views.There is a yard to the rear of the house, which is secure for your pooches and children. There is off road parking for up to 4 cars. The master bedroom is ensuite and spacious enough for a travel cot. Towels and hairdryer are provided. Ensuite has a shower and corner bath. Towels, mirror's and hangers are provided for all bedrooms. Family bathroom also has a bath and shower. The snug sitting room has a log burning stove and TV. Also, the main long sitting room has TV, comfortable seating and patio doors into the back yard. Kitchen diner is light and spacious and is fully equipped with large fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, wine cooler, range cooker and highchair. The house is pretty much open plan but 2 well behaved pooches can stay. There is a local kennel in close proximity for those of you who might want to bring additional dogs or require doggy day care. Anyone wishing to bring their horse with them, or those who may need a stop over with their horse during their journey are welcome. My stables are quite ramshackle, but do the job or they can stay out. The field is directly in front of the house. £10 per horse per night outside. £20 stabled. If anyone from your party are celebrating a birthday, an anniversary or special occasion and would like would like, flowers, wine on arrival, please let us know. Two days notice if possible. Prices will vary depending upon requests. Guests have access to private car parking for up to 4 cars. Additional parking can be arranged upon request if necessary. The back yard is enclosed and houses the hot tub which guests at Isla can enjoy and there is a sitting area. Isla doss not have a barbecue but there is a table guests can use for disposable barbecues or the walls enclosing the front garden can also put disposable barbeques on. Please do not hesitate to contact the host with enquiries and requests before and during your stay. We are happy to help. White-le-head is a small, quaint village situated in County Durham. It has a number of small local cafe,s and pubs within walking distance. Please note although this is semi rural accommodation, we still have neighbours and request that guests are respectful of those around you. We want you to enjoy yourselves with friends or family but we ask that music is of an acceptable level and no rowdiness and swearing, as families occupy surrounding property. We do not have stag or hen parties. Those looking for somewhere to kick your heals and play loud music, sing and shout this is not the place for you. Those who want to chill, take in countryside, see The Northeast and/or family and friends, who enjoy a good drink with background music and a hot tub then this is the place for you and you are very welcome xx We love well behaved owners and their dogs. There are some lovely walks in the surrounding area of Isla and Beamish is not far by car. Nearest coast is about 40 mins away. Please be responsible and clear up after your pooches. Please do not toilet your dog on the lawn, families play here. There is an expectation if you bring a pet you take it out for walks. Cafes - The Olive Stone five mins walk down the bank. They boast homemade breads and cake . Please note opening times vary. - Bayberry Hollow, cafe and gift shop about 20 mins walk, 5 in car, situated in Tanfield Village. Very nice indeed. Pubs - The Owl & Otter 15 mins walk - Oak Tree In 10, mins walk - The Hobson Pub 30 mins walk - The Pack Horse 45 mins walk - South Causey Inn, 1 hour walk, about 5-10. in a car. - Beamish Hall, about 1 -2 hour's walk, 15 mins in car. Towns Stanley: has a Aldi, Asda, Iceland, Bus station to Durham, Sunderland, Newcastle etc, McDonald's. this is about 10 minutes in car. Consett: Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, poundland, Matalan, Tesco, costa, starbucks, KFC, McDonald's. Metro centre About 20- 30 mins away Newcastle about 30 mins The cottage has good public transport links to Durham and Newcastle (see below). Including plenty of local taxi firms. The bus stop is a 2 minute walk from the cottage. Durham - 25 minute drive - 1 hour bus journey (6/6A bus) // Newcastle - 25 minute drive - 55 minute bus journey (X70/6 bus) There are lovely walking routes, direct from the cottage to exercise your dogs or down to the local pub and cafe which are a five minute walk. Further a field, there are walks around Tanfield Railway, Beamish, Derwent walk, Derwent Reservoir and the North Pennines. Great for avid hikers and cyclists.i
