The Barn is a pretty Cotswold-stone building in a quiet village. A great base for relaxing & visiting the Cotswolds, Oxford, Blenheim Palace or Bicester Village. Just 5 minutes drive from the historic market town of Chipping Norton, with plenty of shops & relaxing coffee stops. In winter a log burner makes it cosy. There are footpaths 'from the door' and great mountain & road biking too. We love welcoming UK and international guests & business people. A light and airy place in tranquil countryside - perfect for a staycation or as a workspace. Covid-19 The Barn is separate from the main house and has its own entrance. Check in / out can be done independently, using the keysafe by the door. We are following AirBnB's suggested Enhanced Cleaning guidance and whilst guests should bring their own supplies, we will be providing some additional hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes for our guests. As a result of the pandemic, we are taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations. There is a small kitchenette area with kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave but no oven or hob. We provide several types of tea and ground coffee as well as cereals, fresh milk and bread or Hot Cross Buns to help you start the day. The Barn is a detached building with its own entrance. Whilst The Barn dates back to the late 1700's, it's been fully renovated and is light and airy. In the summertime, you can pin back the french doors to let the sunshine flood in. You'll be staying in a wonderful rural location but with great access to many interesting, historic and iconic locations such as Blenheim Palace. Other local attractions include Daylesford Organic, Soho Farmhouse and, if you like shopping, the famous Bicester Village is only about 30 mins away. For those who love walking and biking, you'll have great access directly from The Barn to fantastic Cotswolds countryside. You went way above and beyond and we hope to be able to come stay again one day" The kingsize bed has a John Lewis Natural Collection pocket sprung mattress and the bed base has drawers for extra storage. There are both firm and medium pillows for you to choose from. A previous guest, Adam, said this: "Thank you for a great couple of days away from the city. Our central location in the country means that we regularly welcome business people to The Barn. We have good WiFi and there's a round table to work at if needed. Our Keysafe gives flexibility in accessing The Barn if you're running late. The Barn is a detached building and so you will have the whole area to yourselves. While you're staying in The Barn, it will very much be your own private area. But if we can help with anything or you need any suggestions for places to eat or to visit, we'll be pleased to help! You will never be short of stunning sights and unforgettable days out when you visit this part of the world! The pre-historic settlement called The Rollright Stones, dates back to 4,000BC and is just a few minutes away by car (slightly longer by footpath!). The local market town just 5 minutes away - Chipping Norton - was an important wool centre from the Middle Ages, with Bliss Mill a wonderful local landmark. There's a busy market in the town every Wednesday and once a month on Saturday's there's also a Farmer's Market where all sorts of local produce and crafts are available for sale. For something a little bit more 'upmarket' Daylesford Organic Farm Shop is just a few miles away, as well as the Michelin Star 'Wild Rabbit' which serves high quality seasonal and local food. We produce our own honey: 'Fields End Honey' and - if we still have stocks - guests can buy pots of this premium Cotswold honey to remind them of their visit, or as gifts for family and friends. Finally, if you want to explore our beautiful area under your own steam, TY Cycles in Chipping Norton hire Hybrid, E-Bikes and Road Bikes for single or multiple days. We have miles of quiet country lanes around and you Sustrans Cycle Route 442 is just close by. TY Cycles can drop off and pick up from The Barn. We've had many guests who've stayed with us at The Barn who've used public transport. To get to The Barn from Gatwick, you can pick up a 'Gatwick Express' or from Heathrow the Oxford Bus Company's 'Airline' coach directly to Oxford - they'll take about 2 or 2.5 hours. To get to The Barn from central London, your options are: 1) Train from London Paddington directly to Kingham station (this goes via Oxford) OR 2) Train from London Paddington to Oxford and then the bus from Oxford (to Chipping Norton). Both train and bus run relatively regularly. Of the two options above, the easiest is the train to Kingham rail station, where you can either: 1) Take a 15 minute taxi directly to The Barn OR 2) Pick up a shuttle bus from Kingham rail station that links with most train arrivals and will take you the 10 minutes to Chipping Norton. Then from there, you can pick up a 5-minute taxi to get to The Barn. Taxi companies you might like to use are: Excelsior Taxis A1 Taxis Chipping Norton Taxis As we live in a rural area, please do pre-book your taxi. Once you're staying at The Barn: You could get a bus from Chipping Norton to Blenheim Palace in Woodstock (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). There is also Stow on the Wold (beautiful, historic hilltop market town) which is only 10 minutes taxi ride away. For eating and drinking, there are plenty of local pubs to enjoy. There are a number of supermarkets in our local market town, Chipping Norton. Tea, freshly-ground coffee, juice, bread, butter and jams are provided in The Barn along with several types of cereals and milk. Let us know if you need gluten-free bread. There's a purple A4 folder inside The Barn with plenty of useful local information including cosy local pubs and eateries. There's also a local map of the area to help you to explore the area and plan any walks - please don't forget to leave them in the building before you depart.
