Aunt Shy's Hide-Away

Aunt Shy's hide-away is nestled on a dead end road in the Spruce Mill Brook Valley bounded by Saddle Hill and Hood Mountain (both on the 250-acre property). Situated in the Adirondack Park midway between the High Peaks and Lake Champlain (Exit 32 on I-87), this property is in an ideal base for enjoying the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain Valley. Looking to get away from the daily grind, hike, bike, fish, ski, or just relax by the fire. Five minutes to the Meadowmount School of Music. Aunt Shy's Hide-away is ideally suited for four guests. however, their are accommodations for six. The second bedroom can be converted from two twin beds into one king size bed. Accommodations for camping are available. Guests will have access to the entire house, less the basement and garage. We live approximately 2.5 hours from the house; however, are available by phone or e-mail to answer questions and address any issues that may arise. We operate a Christmas tree farm on the property, so there is a possibility we will be there working during your stay and enjoy meeting our guests. Our caretaker lives nearby and visits the property on a daily basis to feed the birds, maintain the lawn, and shovel the walks. He is typically on-site a minimum of one hour per day and does not enter the house, but does utilize the garage. If guests want total privacy, simply let us know and we can suspend his duties during your stay. The Champlain Valley is becoming a popular spot for biking. Located easterly of the high peaks the hills are not quite as daunting. The CATS (Champlain Area Trails) are nearby and offer very rewarding short hikes. Perfect for families with young children or who prefer short and less technical hikes. Situated 10 minutes from Elizabethtown, 15 minutes from the Essex Ferry , 30 minutes to Plattsburgh, 30 minutes to Keene and Keene Valley, and 45 minutes to Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain. Some very majestic views of the High Peaks and Jay Range from the property. Easily accessible from the Northway (I-87)
