Idyllically located in the heart of Union Wood, 7miles from Sligo town this cosy self-contained cabin provides an ideal location to get away from it all, with fishing, hiking & mountain bike trails on your doorstep though action is never far away! This is an ideal stopover on your Wild Atlantic Way adventure or if you're attending a wedding in Markree Castle or Castle Dargan hotel. My parents, Brendan & Sheila will be on hand to show you around and give you a real Sligo welcome! The Woodcutter's Cabin is a handcrafted, log-style cabin built over a bubbling stream, nestled among the mature trees of Union Wood, and 100 metres from the banks of the Ballisodare River. The accommodation is open plan with kitchen (gas hob, microwave, kettle, toaster. No oven), breakfast counter, living space and sleeping space with views of the stream and garden (and a few fawns if you're lucky!) and a separate bathroom. The double bed, which can be split into two singles, looks out into the woodland (keep an eye out for the rare red squirrel!) There's a wood burning stove in the Cabin to make it even extra cosy! If you let us know what time you will be arriving at we will try to make sure it is lit in advance. The village of Collooney, which is serviced by trains and buses, is 1.5miles from the Cabin and has supermarkets, pubs and a cafe. Sligo town is approximately 7 miles away. Markree Castle and Castle Dargan Hotel are approximately 5 minutes drive away. Local taxi services are available. Adjacent to the owners own house, guests have full private access to the cabin. Parking is available 20 metres from the cabin and guests access the Cabin via the lawn of the main house and steps to the front door. Sheila and Brendan will be there to greet you on arrival and show you around. They can provide advice/hints on the area, particularly the many walking and biking trails around the Wood. If you've had enough of fishing, hiking, biking, canoeing or relaxing in your immediate surrounds, Sligo is home to several swimming and surfing beaches, all within driving distance, as well as the mountains Benbulben and Knocknarea, for you to explore. A car would be an advantage. Bed linen and towels are supplied.
