John & Joan Why you’ll love this apartment... It truly is “home away from home,” because of the spacious rooms & amenities, like a full kitchen, laundry room. You’ll also love the serenity of the patio that looks out onto a stone wall dating back to the 1800’s & forest beyond that. We have traveled extensively & know that great accommodations make for a great trip, so we make every effort to ensure that you are happy & comfortable in the apartment. Also, we are available to make recommendations on restaurants, recreational activities, etc. according to your preferences. In case you need help in Spanish, Joan is fluent, & John speaks French fluently. Access to the apartment is at the back of the house - please park in front of the 1st garage door (the one on the left of 3). Guests can self- check-in as there is a lock box at the apartment door. We are happy to welcome and provide you with whatever we can do to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Please note that we reserve the right to decline bookings where guests have no positive reviews or no prior reviews at all. John & Joan :) The neighborhood is peaceful, scenic, and "unhurried". It very much has a rural feel, with deer frequently walking in the backyard. We're close to several excellent restaurants as well as hiking and biking trails. If you enjoy concerts, check out the Newton Theatre. Unfortunately there is no public transportation. Uber operates here - expect a 15-20 min wait time. Could be longer depending on the time of day. There is a Lakeland Bus service which operates out of Sparta to NYC with stops on the way - timetables can be found at: (Website hidden by Airbnb) Our House Rules •Access - Since this home is shared with multiple occupants, we like to ensure everyone has their own space. We kindly ask guests to refrain from entering the 2nd level. We’ll ensure your space is likewise respected in return. The entrance to the Apartment is marked and is accessed from the right side of the garage, past the deck to the patio leading to the Red Door. Our fire escape is through the door at the top of the stairs leading to the main house. We would kindly ask you to use this only in the event of an emergency as the door leads to the Private part of the home. •Age - Our 'Greeter dog 'Cassie' is friendly but can get overly enthusiastic when first meeting guests and children under 12 can find her to be a bit of a handful. For that reason, our minimum age requirement is 12. •Amenities - The easiest way to disrupt an enjoyable stay is a plumbing problem. To prevent this, we kindly ask you to please place things like sanitary napkins in the bin we’ve provided in the bathroom. We simply want to ensure you have a royal flush kind of holiday :) •Behavior - If you’re coming to New Jersey to "party" you’ve picked a great state to do so, but please not at our place. Though we’re sure it won’t come to it, serious complaints of unruly behavior will result in you being asked to leave.. •Check-in / Check-out - Check-in is between 3 pm and 8 pm, and check-out is by 11 am. Arriving slightly earlier, or want that extra hour to sleep? Should be fine, but please check with us first. •Cleanliness - Whilst we do a thorough cleaning between each guest stay, we kindly ask that prior to leaving, you clean and put away any dishes or kitchenware used and put any dirty towels in the hamper. It helps us get through our cleaning process quicker and allows us to keep cleaning costs down for you and future guests. •Damage - We understand that accidents happen. But we do ask that you please let us know when they do. Chances are we can fix them as effortlessly as possible. •Smoking - Being a family home, we also have a no smoking policy (although you are welcome to smoke at the patio out back). •Drugs - What you do in your personal time is entirely up to you, but when staying at our place we have a strict no drug use policy. This is just the law… not so much one of our rules. •Electricity - To keep our costs down (and pass those savings on to our guests) we kindly ask that you switch off lights and the A/C (window unit in the Summer) or put the thermostat down to 68 deg F when it's not in use or leaving the Apartment. Mother nature thanks you too. •Noise - To be considerate to the other house occupants, we kindly ask you to keep things on the quieter-side after 9 pm. And if you want to listen to music, please remember the other roommates and enjoy via headphones or in your personal space. We’ll make sure to reciprocate the favor. •Occupancy - We understand that for a whole variety of reasons, you may want additional guests to stay in the place. In the event that you want additional guests to stay, please contact us to let us know. We’re reasonable folk and will accommodate wherever possible. Our maximum occupancy is 4. •Pets - Sorry no pets allowed •Security - To ensure full safety of our guests' belongings, we like to keep the Apartment door locked. Whilst Andover is one of the safest towns in New Jersey, we want to ensure every guest stay remains problem free, and this is just one small + simple thing we’re able to do to ensure that. Visitors - As we mentioned we are happy to allow one or two visitors during your stay for a short period. However, we do not allow visitors to stay overnight. Thank you! John & Joan Thomas
