Boutique Hideaway in Latvia's "Cultural Capital"
Our family's hideaway within reach of Cesis and yet just a few steps away from the Gauja National Park will charm you with its Nordic 'hygge'. Located in the town's hilly outskirts and surrounded by nature, you will enjoy modern amenities while feeling tagged away. Enjoy your morning coffee while listening to the sounds of birds and a tiny creek, relax in a hammock within the apple orchard or sip your glass of wine in front of the fireplace. We hope you will enjoy your stay as much as we do. Our house is approximately 100 years old and attention was paid to its original elements during renovation. An outdoor terrace, a modern sauna house with its own deck and hot tub (wood fired) and an old barn complements the historic building. Rather unusual for Latvia, you will find yourself on a slope allowing you to find a place to read, relax, daydream or play on different "levels". You may wish to pick the extra deck, the mini birch grove, the grassy area on top of the property, or watch who is visiting from just above the house. We have three kids under the age of five and they love our place as much as we do. Our place is equipped with two children beds (age 2-7) and one crib (age 0-3) and we are happy to set it up for you should you be traveling with kids. There are toys, books, tricycle, balance bike, sandbox and alike to keep little people busy and happy as they explore our place inside and outside. A few practical things to note before you book. The property feature two bedrooms and two bathrooms, but those are located in two separate buildings (located right next to each other) i.e. the main house and the sauna house. The beds for kids are in the main house. Extra sleeps for adults can be arranged in the main house at extra fee. Also using the sauna and hot tub comes with an extra fee. Known as the Cīrulīši neighborhood of Cēsis, it is famous for its proximity to the beautiful Gauja river valley, scenic hilly surroundings, and fresh water springs. This area of Cēsis has been popular for holiday housing since times of Tsarist Russia and it doesn't leave you disappointed today. If you are looking for outdoor recreation, just step out from the front door and enjoy amazing walks or bicycle tours along numerous nature trails. Rent a boat or raft and enjoy the romance of the Gauja River; based on the season you can also enjoy the nearby ski resort and tennis court, all reachable within less than 15 minutes walk from our property. A highly rated Spa and Restaurant can also be reached via foot. Others may wish to enjoy Cesis, one of Latvia's most charming medieval towns. Its Old Town is just a 7 minute drive away and boosts a vivid cultural scene, including a concert hall, art galleries, museums, and numerous festivals. Enjoy local boutique shops, various (and good!) restaurants and coffee places. The area around our property is great for walking and cycling thanks to its scenic, hilly surroundings. You are hidden from any (major) traffic, in fact the house is located at the end of dead-end street. The close by Gauja National park offers a great variety of hiking and bicycling routes. The Cēsis city commuter bus stop is a 10 min walk away. Cycling to Old Town Cēsis is less than 20 min (mostly on dedicated cycling paths), walking will take you approximately 45 min. The closest grocery store is about 10 min of cycling/20 min of walking/4 min by car away; plenty of other grocery stores can be found in and around Old Town Cesis. Cesis is also well-connected to Riga thanks to updated roads and frequent train and bus schedules. It will take you around 1.5 hours to reach (and enjoy) the capital city's Hanseatic and Art Nouveau history.
