Quirky Country Cottage (Butt n Ben) with Piano
Welcome to my home, a small rural character cottage in South West Scotland. The cottage is in one of the Royal Four Towns close to Castle Loch and Lochmaben Castle, onetime home to King Robert the Bruce. Ryecroft is ideal for those wanting to get away and enjoy walks in the countryside, fish, bird-watch, cycle, sail and enjoy outdoor activities whilst still be close to good transport links. The cottage is small but comfortable and for the musician there is a small grand piano. During your stay you will have access to a private garden with off road parking. The cottage offers accommodation in a true Scottish But-n-Ben, there is a kitchen with a muti-fuel stove, bathroom with a shower over the bath, sitting room with open fire and a sleeping loft. Please note the stair to the bedroom is narrow and the head height limited, so the space may not be suitable for someone with limited mobility. There is electric underfloor heating throughout the ground floor. Please remember that the cottage is a home, it will contain personal items books etc; you are welcome to browse and enjoy the cottage, but please do not remove anything. During your stay I can be contacted by telephone, I will meet you and show you the house on your arrival to ensure that you know where to find everything and to work the stove, heating etc. Heck is close to Lockerbie and Lochmaben. You have access to walks, woodland and outdoor pursuits such as fishing on the Castle Loch, the River Annan and sailing at the Lochmaben Marina. Heck is ideally suited for those looking for a quiet break in the country or as a base to explore Dumfries and Galloway. The Location is rural in a working agricultural setting, so you can expect to see farm vehicles etc... an sometimes a pair of wellies is essential. Castle Loch can be accessed via a public footpath across the fields where you will find laid out footpaths, bird hides and nature information. The footpaths are safe for children and animals. The cottage is also a home. There may be some personal items around and foodstuffs in cupboards, candles etc; guests are free to use what they find on the basis that they replace what they use. Electric heating and hot water is provided. Should guest wish to use the open fire or stove, then they are asked to provide their own kiln dried timber or smokeless fuel.
