Charming cottage with lots of original features
Siskin Cottage is a lovely example of a traditional Suffolk cottage. It is situated on a quiet lane in the pretty village of Beyton, known for it's village green (with resident geese) and the 13th century round tower church. There are two pubs and country walks from your doorstep. The historic market town of Bury St Edmunds is 4 miles away, and is famous for it's Cathedral and Abbey Gardens, twice weekly market and independent shops. The Suffolk coast is approximately an hours drive away. Siskin Cottage has lots of original features, exposed beams and a stunning inglenook fireplace with real woodburner in the cosy sitting room. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a washing machine, oven and hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, iron and ironing board . The bathroom is downstairs and features a small corner bath with shower over. A winding staircase leads to the two bedrooms, again with exposed beams and a beautiful chimney breast. Please note that the second bedroom can only be reached by walking through the main bedroom. A special feature of the property is the conservatory with french doors opening out to a fully enclosed, south facing garden with patio area. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome (strictly by prior arrangement) at the cost of £5 per night per dog. This is payable during your stay and a jar is left out for this purpose, along with some doggy treats. Please bring your dog's own bedding and bowls as these are not provided. Dogs must not be allowed upstairs or on the furniture. Also, please do not leave your dog unattended in the property. Please ask at time of booking if you wish to bring your dog with you. Car parking is either directly in front of the cottage or off road opposite. I always message guests to make sure they have arrived safely and am contactable by phone or through the app messaging service during their stay. Beyton is a small, peaceful village surrounded by beautiful countryside. There are two pubs within walking distance, both serve good food and have gardens with outdoor seating. There is a garage with a well stocked shop just over a mile away in the neighbouring village of Thurston, which also has a pub, Co-Op, Post Office and Railway Station with regular services to Cambridge and Norwich, Ipswich and London. There are no shops in Beyton itself. There are countryside walks directly from the cottage and several picturesque villages to explore by car, including Long Melford and Lavenham, widely acknowledged as Britain’s best preserved medieval village and one of Suffolk’s most important wool towns. Beyton is a small village with no shops or street lights. The neighbouring village of Thurston, which is less than 2 miles away has lots of amenities, including a Co op, Sandwich shop, garage, hairdresser, Post Office and library.
