Beautiful annexe with woodland views
Perfect for walkers, cyclists and those seeking a peaceful retreat, The Roses is a beautifully fitted out, self-contained and well equipped annexe surrounded by ancient Sussex woodland and close to beauty spots, NT properties, walking and cycling routes, including the Downs Link and Sussex Border Path. Horsham, Guildford and Cranleigh provide great shopping and eateries and there are many excellent rural pubs nearby. Set in a fabulous garden, its tranquil setting will definitely make you relax! The Roses is a very comfortable self-contained annexe to a Georgian cottage, set in a beautiful garden which features no less than 40 rose plants, hence its name! One of its main features is the conservatory and sun terrace, with its views to the west - a perfect spot for a sundowner! There is a very well equipped kitchen with two-ring halogen hob (NB no oven), under-counter fridge with freezer compartment, washing machine. We provide a range of breakfast cereals, teas, coffee (plus cafetière), bread, local eggs and fresh milk for your breakfast. There is a large and comfortable living room with TV to enjoy the winter evenings. The annexe is centrally heated with thermostatic controls on all radiators, plus there are additional electric heaters in both sitting areas for colder evenings. Outside is a gated courtyard offering private secure parking and we offer secure bike storage too. For cyclists we provide an exterior power point and external tap for washing off all that hard-earned mud!! We adhere to AirBnB’s strict guidelines on cleaning, and all linen is washed at 60 degrees and all surfaces disinfected between guests. Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden and bbq area. The Roses is fully self-contained with its own entrance and external key-safe for a no-contact entry if preferred. We live in the adjoining cottage so are nearly always on hand to assist where necessary. We provide information about all local eateries, walks locally and transport links, plus details of the many wonderful places to visit in this part of West Sussex. Rudgwick is known for its proximity to many walking and cycling routes including the famous Downs Link set in glorious countryside on the Surrey/Sussex border. From the fields around the village you can see both the North and the South Downs. There is a Coop within 7 minutes walk of the annexe, which is open till 10pm, seven days a week, and is very well stocked. The Kings Head pub is about 8 minutes’ walk up the hill, and The Fox Inn with its excellent English pub food menu (and Asian dishes) can be reached by car in 5 minutes or on foot in 20 minutes. They serve a fantastic Sunday roast! Also within very easy reach is the fabulous Chequers Inn at Rowhook, featured in the Michelin guide. Beautiful local places to visit include the Wey and Arun Canal at Loxwood and the Warnham Nature Reserve, and major walking routes include the Sussex Border Path (five minutes’ walk from the cottage) and Greensand Way at Holmbury St Mary (15 mins drive). Both the lovely village of Cranleigh and Horsham town are reachable in 15 minutes by car and offer all the amenities you could wish for. Horsham, Billingshurst and Guildford stations all operate good services to London.
