Deena's Cozy Blue Studio in the Country

Explore the mountains & relax in complete comfort at our unique scenic getaway. Spacious studio with queen-sized bed plus day bed, equipped kitchenette, couch, small dining table, large bathroom with shower, and outdoor patio with scenic views. Newly renovated apt on our private land; once an old country golf course, now a micro-farm. Room to walk, close to biking and hiking trails. Minutes from Hillman Beer, Old Fort Ride House, Catawba Falls, Pisgah Forest, etc. 30 mins east of Asheville. The studio is spacious and self-contained with its own private entrance through the patio. It is located on the ground floor of what used to be the "clubhouse" of the old golf course. We've been gradually renovating the building, inside and out. We have an office on the other end of the building, and I have an office upstairs. There's also a yoga room upstairs and we have classes available. The kitchen in your studio is equipped with small convection oven, double burner, refrigerator, dishes, utensils, pots and pans, etc. The bathroom has towels and body soaps, etc. We have extra blankets and pillows, if needed. We don't provide a television as most people can use their device for streaming. We provide internet. We're happy to give you your privacy, but people are around during the day and occasionally in the evening, as well. You can walk the upper portion of our land all the way down to our Lavender Labyrinth which is in full bloom during the summer. We keep bees and chickens, and we'll provide you with a small jar of honey and a half dozen eggs as long as we have them. During the summer, if our flower garden is in bloom, we'll also include a small arrangement in your room upon arrival. We farm industrial hemp and annual vegetables and cut flowers. Please note that if you are highly allergic to bees or wasps, you are responsible for bringing your own emergency medication. The outside patio has nice chairs to sit and enjoy the evening mountain view, plus a table and chairs under cover so you could sit outside even if it were sprinkling rain. There's a Solo Wood Stove on the patio and we will provide wood, etc. We have a washer and dryer in the Owner's Closet, which we are happy to share with you if needed. This is a residential area so even though we are in the country, there are homes all around us. We developed the old golf course into an eclectic residential community that includes everything from tiny homes to regular size homes. The neighbors are of all ages and persuasions and we appreciate them all. This is a great place if you want some peace and quiet and natural beauty but also don't want to be totally isolated. We're 30 minutes from downtown Asheville and 15 from Black Mountain and Marion, so you'll need a reliable car to travel anywhere. Old Fort and the brewery, grocery store, banks, post office, etc. are five miles away. Our studio apartment is cozy and modern and well equipped, but we're also a very relaxed, rural atmosphere. If you need anything while you're here, just text us. We don't allow smoking in the room or on our land due to fire danger. There is an asphalt patio outside your room where you can smoke. We love dogs and we would like to continue to allow guests to bring their pup. In order to do so, we have rules. We allow one quiet non-aggressive dog in the room. They must be on a leash outside. Please do not leave your dog in the room alone if you are gone for the day or if they bark in your absence. Thank you so much. Enjoy... There's free parking on the road right in front of the studio apartment. You'll need a reliable car to get to town. We're around working and living our life. Either of us are available to answer questions or help out. We'll say hello and welcome but give you all the space you want. Sometimes we may be away for the day, and we'll have a staff person there to help out. We are located in western McDowell County, about five miles from the small town of Old Fort, NC and just down the interstate from Black Mountain and Asheville. This is a rural area that has traditionally been a farm community. Old Fort has recently become popular with outdoor enthusiasts, especially cyclists and hikers. Many people are moving here to be close to nature, as well as Asheville and Black Mountain. Hillman Beer from Asheville recently opened a beautiful creekside brewery in Old Fort, and the Old Fort Ride House and Kitsbow have also opened their doors in town. There's a grocery store, hardware store, local art gallery, and other basic ammenities in town. We have fresh clean water right off the Continental Divide, starry night skies, and lots of trees. Parking is free in front of our building. Cyclists use the roads but they are narrow two lane country roads and should be used very carefully. Trails are available in Old Fort. Old Fort is 5 miles away; Black Mountain is 15 minutes away over the Continental Divide on I-40; and Asheville is 30 minutes away. A reliable vehicle is necessary. The closest airports are Asheville and Charlotte. Please note there is no smoking in the room, and we don't allow smoking on the land due to fire danger. If a guest smokes, they need to do so only on the asphalt patio outside their room. Please don't leave butts. We are a working micro farm and a business so there are people working around the building and property during the week. During the day you might hear mowing, for example, especially during the summer. Everyone does their best to be respectful and as quiet as possible in the vicinity of the guest room and to give our guests their privacy. Evenings and weekends tend to be especially quiet. We don't allow parties and extra guests unless you also book our small event spaces. There's an indoor event room, an outdoor covered patio, an uncovered picnic or ceremony site, and a labyrinth picnic site available for rent. Please let me know if you're interested.
