Country House, with ample grounds, beautifully arranged, private pool, gourmet BB & Wood Oven. Adapted Barn with billiard, table tennis, DVD and Game corner. Ideal to be with family or friends. Just 45 min from Lisbon, the ideal place to relax or explore Santarém, capital of Ribatejo;Óbidos, medieval Village;Caldas da Rainha, famous for it's porcelain;Nazaré, famous for it's waves and seafood;Fátima, famous religious site;Golegã, horse capital;Baleal, beach+surf, all in a radius of max 60 min. Our country place is made of three buildings. The main house, the pool house and the Barn. We keep the Pool house closed but the Main house and the Barn are for the exclusive use of our guests as well as all exterior spaces available, which includes the swimming pool, the gourmet barbecue and wood fire oven, several pergola areas as well as a football or sports area. All for our guests exclusive use. The Main house has a living area, a dining area and full equipped kitchen! It has three bedrooms downstairs, ( bedroom 1 - double bed; bedroom 2 - bunk bed and single bed; bedroom 3 - single bed + sofa) and a bathroom. Upstairs there is another bedroom, (double bed) and bathroom. The redone Barn is now a game area where we play billiard, table tennis or watch dvds,PlayStation or table games. This of course is only possible when the kids have not highjacked the Barn! We just love to relax when we are here, to grill outside, enjoy the pool or in winter sit by the fireplaces. Absolute favorite of ours is to bake pizza in the evening! There is a big green area in front of the main house, where you can play football or other games. You can always pick some fruits from the trees if it's the right time! If the weather is getting cold, the house is heated and has also a lovely and comfy fireplace! The Main House has cable for very lazy moments! We have a lot of those ;-)! In a radius of one hour by car you can do a lot of sightseeing. Please let me know what kind of things you like and I will be able to give you some tips! You will be able to use all outside space of our property, 1 hectare, as well as the Main House, the Guest House and the Pool. On the property there are other spaces that we use for storage and therefore they are closed! What to do when you had enough fun at the pool? Our country house is only 9km from Valada, where you can walk along the river, take boat trips and discover the Tejo, or visit traditional fisherman villages such as Avieira Lezirão and Aldeia da Palhota. We find ourselves in a region of enotourism so if you like I can help you organize a wine tasting in one of the vineyards nearby, ( 11 km). The bigger city next to us is Cartaxo, ( 6km/ 10 min), where you will find everything for your daily needs, such as supermarkets, chemists and banks. Santarém, (22km/25min), is the capital of Ribatejo, it is a wonderful traditional city, with lots of famous touristic sites, very good restaurants and bars. But you can also have a very special dinner at "Taberna do Alfaiate" where you will have fabulous Portuguese food and wine in a lovely atmosphere only 10 minutes, (6,6km), away from us. Or just have a bacalhau in a restaurant famous for it's recipe at " A Cernelha ", a simple but very good restaurant by the N3 road, (4.6km/ 7 min). For a day trip you can visit Óbidos, (52km/40 min) a traditional medieval Village that has been wonderfully maintained. There are a diversity of festivals organized there, but you have to check according to your stay. You should visit between Thursday and Sunday, the other days many things are closed. Another trip is to drive up to Caldas da Rainha, famous for it's porcelain of Bordallo Pinheiro, you can visit the museum and the shop, besides visiting the city protected by it's medieval castle walls or go to the beach nearby. A very beautiful one is "Praia da Foz do Arelho". 30km further up you have "Nazaré", famous for it's huge waves and surfer Garret McNamara. His favorite restaurant just by Nazaré's marginal is "A Celeste", that has become famous because of him. Another nice day trip is a visit to the caves " Grutas Mira de Aire" (61km/40min) or "Grutas da moeda" (73km/49 min), from here it is only 2 km to Fatima, where you can visit the famous Sanctuary of Fatima. These are just a few suggestions of all the things you can do and visit. Also check out Golegã, horse capital, Alcobaça Mosteiro and Peniche, Baleal, beach+surf, all in a radius of max 60 minutes. Swimming pool information: the swimming pool can only be used from late May till September depending always on the weather. No Parties - Strict Policy: Although it is a country house and you have a feeling of being secluded, noise can be heard very very well. We have neighbors and must respect them. Our place is adequate for families and friends who want to relax and have a good time. It is not adequate for loud groups who want to drink and hear loud music and party. No organization of one day parties: to organize birthday parties or any other kind of parties and invite people to come over spend the day is not allowed. Our place is for the use of our guests only.
