Beautiful barn conversion in Thrussington
“Swift Retreat” is a stunning barn conversion in the attractive village of Thrussington in the heart of the Wreake Valley. This self-contained two-storey annexe next door to our family home retains the rustic feel of an historic barn, with timber floors and exposed wooden beams, whilst also offering the modern comforts of central-heating, walk-in shower, fully equipped dining kitchen, cosy lounge area and comfortable kingsize bed. Once part of Old Hall Farm, one of the oldest farms in the village, this barn was lovingly converted into comfortable guest accommodation in around 2015. Spread out across two floors, you will enter directly into the kitchen on the ground floor. This is generously equipped with a fridge, range-cooker, microwave and dishwasher, along with dining table and chairs. From the kitchen, you will climb the wooden stairs to the first floor, at the centre of which is the lounge area, complete with a comfortable leather sofa and flat screen TV. This is a wonderfully light and airy room with full-length double-doors opening on to a Juliette balcony, ideal for watching the swallows and bats flit about in the courtyard below on warm summer evenings. To one side of the lounge area is the kingsize bedroom - a warm, cosy retreat with wrought-iron bed and 2 chests of drawers. To the other side of the lounge is the shower room, where the exposed brick walls and vaulted ceiling provide a rustic twist to a modern walk-in shower, toilet and basin. A travel cot and high chair are available for infants, but please note that there are no stair gates at the property. This being a rural location, the TV and Wifi reception may not always be the strongest , but there are plenty of DVDs to watch and books to read on a rainy day or chilly evening! The Barn is an entirely self-contained unit accessed via a shared driveway. There is no outdoor space for guests' use except by prior arrangement in certain circumstances. Your hosts, Will & Georgie, live next door. With busy work and family lives, they may not always be on site or available at all times, but there will be telephone contact as required, and there is a key safe for self-check in and check out when there is no one at home. We are situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. Walk out of the property and you are immediately next to the picturesque Holy Trinity Church dating back to the 13th Century (the Church clock chimes every hour and on the quarter!). Turn right and you are 3 minutes from the village centre, where you will find two pubs (the Blue Lion and Star Inn), and a thriving deli shop and tea room, which sells excellent Hambleton Bakery bread/pastries, along with other local produce, and serves delicious cakes, breakfasts and light meals. Turn left and within 3 minutes you will be in open countryside with fantastic walking country almost on the doorstep. Despite its charming rural feel, Thrussington is easily accessible, just a mile away from the A46, 10 miles from Leicester City Centre, 9 miles from Melton Mowbray and 4 miles from Syston, all of which have train stations (Leicester is on the mainline to London). There are also local buses passing through the village. The Leicestershire Round walk passes very close by. For grocery shopping, in addition to the village shop and local grocery stores in Syston and Melton, there are also several supermarkets within 10-15 minutes drive - Tesco & Aldi in Syston; Morrisons & Sainsbury's in Melton Mowbray; and a large Asda superstore & petrol station on the Thurmaston retail park about 12 minutes drive away. If you are travelling by public transport, you are welcome to book a supermarket delivery for any time from your arrival date.
