The Hut in The Orchard

The Shepherd's Hut, nestled in the beautiful Weald of Sussex is a perfect bolt-hole to escape the bustle of everyday life. Slow down to nature's pace and reconnect with the great outdoors on our working farm. When you stay on our working farm, you have exclusive use of the 3/4 acre orchard paddock, we only have the one Shepherd's Hut ( with its adjoining Dining Hut) for one reason, escapism, so you are the only guests at any one time. The Shepherd's hut has all the mod-cons you could want to ensure your stay in the country is comfortable...en-suite shower room...fully fitted kitchenette, central heating, Wi-Fi and your own dining hut adjacent with an outdoor log burning stove for that authentic campfire experience under the stars. We are family and dog friendly. The hut sleeps 2 adults and 2 children. (All linen and towels provided). Additional children can be accommodated, we charge a small fee for pitching your own tent to sleep up to 4 more children. Well behaved dogs are welcome, please notify us at the time of booking, a £20 fee is payable for additional cleaning. Guests are welcome into the farmyard to meet the animals by invitation only, we are a working farm with tractors, heavy machinery and livestock. There are times when it would be too dangerous to allow visitors access. We respectfully ask that parents supervise their children at all times when staying at Conies Farm. We are happy to help with any advise on places to go, or dine out. If you have any queries at all don't hesitate to ask. We are usually out and about on the farm so if no-one answers the front door, give us a call on the mobile. We are Phil and Alicia Acton, custodians of a 17th century farm nestled in the beautiful Sussex Weald near the pretty market town of Horsham. With plenty of beautiful walks via public footpaths accessible from the farm gate and the South Downs Link just a 5 minute walk across the fields (a former railway line, now a public bridleway, cycle path linking up to the South Downs Way) we are well placed for those who enjoy the great outdoors. We are spoilt with two charming local pubs within walking distance which have log fires burning in the winter months and are children and dog friendly. We are passionate about our animals, the land we farm and this beautiful corner of Sussex and we invite you to share in its charm. Come and take a look around... We are a little too remote to be serviced well by public transport. Our closest mainline railway station is in Horsham, a 10 minute drive away. Horsham to London is an hour by train. There is a bus that goes through our village into Horsham on a Saturday and Wednesday, no.s 89 and 108. For timetables see... (URL HIDDEN) Gatwick Airport is just 25 minutes away by car and there are plenty of taxi companies we could recommend. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. We do charge a small £20 valeting charge per stay for dogs. Please bring your own pet bedding and kindly clear up after your dog.
