We are located in a unique area of Riverside, nestled in what feels like a hamlet in the hills of the Box Springs wilderness area. We are, at the same time, only 4 miles from the downtown tourist area which is home to the Mission Inn, Benedict Castle, the famous sustainable-environment artistry of Tios Taco, and the beautiful Riverside Fox Theater where Gone With The Wind first premiered! Our prime location is ALSO in the literal HEART of Southern California, within about an hour drive from several beaches on the coast, both high and low deserts, or local mountains such as Arrowhead, Baldy and Big Bear; also most tourist attractions, such as Disneyland, Griffiths Observatory, Knotts Berry Farm, San Diego Zoo, Joshua Tree National Park, LA shopping, Cabazon Outlet Stores, Hollywood and many, many museums, theaters, and various concert venues. We're 10 minutes from Riverside Convention Center, 20 min from San Bernardino Orangeshow Grounds, and about 45 minutes to the LA County Fairgrounds and Bonelli water park. OR… go nowhere by car, you can simply walk out the front door and walk the lovely hills of Box Springs natural Reserve ! Our house is your retreat in the Inland Empire of Southern California! A shared kitchen is a happy kitchen!! If there is ripe fruit or nuts on the trees, help yourself to a tasty treat! Washer and dryer available with host assist. You will have a key to your private room. If we are (by some slim chance) not going to be present for your arrival, we will arrange your access... We would communicate those details with you by AIRBNB MESSAGE or TELEGRAM APP about a day or two prior to your arrival. The only off limits areas are the driveway (use it ONLY during street sweeping times as posted by the city); the attic, others private bedrooms, and the garage. **ABSOLUTELY NO THIRD PARTY BOOKINGS or UN-BOOKED additional guests ALLOWED; Would be Grounds for Immediate cancellation** Please note, NO GLITTER or electric dance costumes permitted AT ALL, and respect that hours to come and go in and out of our peaceful home are NOT between midnight and 7 am. OPTIONAL MEALS may be had when host is cooking: If you'd like to join host for a home cooked meal, Dinner is $10 each, or Lunch is $7, paid cash to host in respectful advance of meal PREPARATION time. Other interaction might include conversation, a game of scrabble or chess, a cup of tea or join us for church/bible study, as guests may desire. We have travelled ourselves and love to share adventures, so are likely to invite you to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or cup of tea by the fireplace or in the garden while getting acquainted. We typically have available some yoghurt, fruit, coffee or tea in the mornings. Please be sure to feel comfortable to bring your groceries in and fix your own favorite meal in our shared kitchen. It is our goal to be your legendary host while allowing you complete privacy and time to yourself during your stay here. But if you would like to join us for a day or evening out and about on our typical paths... please just ask! We've hosted hundreds of folks from all over the planet since 1985, including visiting scholars to UCR, dignitaries, and missionaries on furlough. Our neighborhood is very unique and endearing! We know and interact with each other, watch out for each other, and often enjoy each other's company while at the same time respecting each other's individual privacy and space. It is quiet and lovely here. There really IS a mountain out front... I've included a pic of it! We can hike up onto it and all around our neighborhood. We are about 2 miles from the metro train station and willing to pick you up there by prearrangement. There are city bus stops about 3/4 mile away. There is a local University trolley free to students with ID. We also have bicycles available to loan with $100 deposit, by special pre-arrangement (and YOU do any needed maintenance) . The Ontario International Airport is a half hour west of here. LAX is about an hour west; Palm Springs airport about 40 min East. Uber and Lyft is available! We LOVE meeting people and putting them at ease for a reasonable price during their journey. We have scrapbooks of the international guests who have stayed here going back to 1985! Some still come back to visit. Others have hosted us or our children when we've gone around the world to visit THEM! Please note, NO GLITTER or electric dance costumes permitted AT ALL, and respect that hours to come and go in and out of our peaceful home are NOT between midnight and 7 am. * We will require identification that ALL GUESTS are at least age 21 years, and a signed hard-copy of our specific house rules agreement, upon your arrival or prior to your gaining access. FYI: Property is protected by a very sensitive neighborhood watch organization, and there are video surveillance cameras to most shared areas of this house and yard for the safety of ALL.
