Sussex Shepherds Hut by lake

Comfortable and delightfully decorated shepherds hut in a stunning secluded wild flower meadow setting. Well equipped with wood stove, cooker, sink, hot shower, double bed, table and chairs, children's bunks (up to 14 yrs) and composting loo. Hand made by Mark, the unique layout works well for families with kitchen area and wood stove, double bed, and seating/eating area in main section, with children's bunk beds (suitable for up to 16 year olds only) and hot water shower in slightly separate section, accessed through other end of hut (has peekaboo holes to for the parents to keep an eye on things though!). Outside there is a BBQ, picnic bench and fire pit for guests to enjoy, with beautiful view over meadow with wild flowers and plenty of nature to enjoy. In winter the hut is besides the lake and more suitable for adults, In summer the hut is in the meadow with lots of space to play and enjoy-and pitch a tent if you've a few extra people. Our starter pack always includes a basic breakfast of juice,cereal, toast and a fresh farm egg. In season, ask in advance for a compot if you would like it included. Guests should check in at the main house on arrival and then you'll be shown where to park and how to access the hut. Check in is from 4pm, check out before 11am. Please call and let us know when you will arrive so that we can make sure we are in to welcome you. You are totally independent! I normally check you are ok with the operating procedures for the hut, are happy to help if you need any ideas, information, direction, or activities (which are best pre-booked). We love our position snuggled between the South Downs NP, Ashdown Forest, Pevensey levels and the High Weald, it's a truly beautiful place to explore. Plenty of national trust properties nearby and only 20 minutes from the coast. Trains from London/Gatwick to Polegate, Uckfield, and Tunbridge wells where there are taxi ranks. Bus routes from stations to our local village where we can pick up from. We can pick up/drop off at Polegate for longer stays - please call in advance to arrange. All the kitchen basics are included, there is also a small store of extra food which operates with an honesty box. We're on a working farm so don't forget appropriate footwear (wellies and flip flops), warm clothes and a spare torch for dark evenings. We provide bedding but not towels, the kids have clean sleeping bags and liners a clean bottom sheet and pillow,we advise you bring the kids own top bedding.I include wood for the stove during Autumn/Winter months, barrow of wood for the firepit (£15)and charcoal (£5) are extra, to be paid for.
