Gecko Cottage

This compact self-contained cottage with 2 tiny bedrooms is ideal for budget travellers who want to experience life first-hand in the 'old' part of Bagamoyo town. Conveniently located just 5 mins walk from 3 restaurants, the art market and the beach and in a walled compound with two other houses, visitors will wake up to the sound of the mosque and fishermen on their way to work. Samosas, chapattis and chai can be ordered from the cafe outside the gate. There's a two ring cooker, a toaster, a kettle and a fridge at the cottage which means you can easily cater for yourselves to keep the cost of your trip to a minimum. You will have sole access to your cottage and can use the washing line in the main garden area to hang you washing up. Living in Bagamoyo Old town gives you a first-hand taste of coastal village life: fishermen mend their nets, children learn in the school over the road and hawkers call out for you to buy their produce. This is a largely Muslim village and there are three mosques near by, so if you are looking for a quiet and secluded retreat, this is not the place for you!! The cottage is a 10 mins walk from the Bus station. Boda bodas or tuk tuks are the most convenient way to get around.
