Idyllhaus - Mid-century A-frame chalet

Idyllhaus is a cozy 1962 A-frame chalet nestled in the trees of beautiful Idyllwild, CA with spectacular forest and mountain views. This private mountain getaway has been lovingly restored and tastefully updated and we are excited to share it with you. If you are looking for a beautifully designed, peaceful place to relax and unplug from busy city life, this is it. Get cozy next to the wood-burning fireplace in an original Saarinen womb chair with wool Pendleton blankets. An epic floor-to-ceiling wall of glass lets in the beautiful views of Marion Mountain and the surrounding forest. In the evenings you'll enjoy watching the sunset and the magical alpenglow shining off the mountain peak. The newly built wraparound redwood deck is the perfect place to soak up the fresh pine air while enjoying your morning coffee, reading a book, or just sitting and watching the squirrels, woodpeckers, rabbits, raccoons and other wildlife. At any time of day you can find a comfortable spot in the sun or shade. For the true 60's experience enjoy the turntable and collection of 60's and 70's records, or hook up your wireless device to the great sounding bluetooth speakers. The most unique feature of the cabin is the newly remodeled master bathroom. The bathroom is lined with Ann Sacks tile, limestone, teak, and heated stone floors. From a 2-person Duravit tub you can open the sliding glass windows and feel like you are taking an outdoor bath in your own private forest. It truly is an indoor/outdoor tub. The brand new kitchen is outfitted with a new Viking stove, quartz countertops, mahogany cabinets, heated stone floors, and an original 60s Arne Jacobsen billiard lamp. The cabinets are filled with original Mid-century cookware, tableware, and cocktail glasses, much of which came with the cabin originally. For coffee lovers you will have your choice of a Chemex pour-over set up, French press, or traditional Italian drip coffee maker.. Both bedrooms have ridiculously comfortable mattresses, flannel sheets and wool Pendleton blankets. The downstairs bedroom has a sliding glass door with views to our forested backyard teeming with wildlife. The upstairs room looks out at the same backyard view through the trees and features a private 1/2 bath lined with Heath Ceramics tile, heated floors, and top of the line finishings. We also have a collection of games and puzzles. Idyllwild is the perfect place to unplug from screens and slow down and relax. We don't have a TV and encourage guests to get off the grid for a bit and soak up the natural beauty. That said, we do have high speed wifi for your internetting needs.
