Finca Ometepe - Main House

Whole house vacation rental- there are 2 houses on the property. You can rent just one or both houses during your stay. The smaller house on property is labeled as Finca Ometepe- Little House on Airbnb. This listing is the main house which contains a master bedroom king bed and air conditioning, a second room with a queen bed and fan, and a large room with two bunks bed, one regular and one a full bed on the bottom and a twin on top. This whole-house vacation rental has one master bedroom with a king bed, 2 rooms with bunk beds, and a large living room with a pull-out sofa. Both bedrooms have ever-changing spectacular views of Ometepe island volcanos. The house itself has a large living room with a pull out sofa and handmade rocking chairs, a full kitchen with a gas oven and stove, and a wrap-around porch with outdoor seating at a large family-style table. There is a fan in each room and ceiling fans in central living areas. There is a roomy bathroom with a hot water shower which is shared between the two bedrooms. Power is solar, and we try really hard to live off the grid. This means, however, that if you have to be a bit careful with your energy consumption. We do have an electric backup, but please remember that Ometepe is a windy island in a developing country, so sometimes the power goes out for short periods of time. Listed price includes lodging for 4 guests, with additional guests paying USD $10 per bed per stay. Guests renting the house do get access to the entire house, so there is plenty of room for friends and family. We have lots to do on the farm-you can walk with our farm hand to pick eggs for breakfast from our free-range hens, and even try milking our goat and then making cheese. It is incredibly yummy. Our garden is completely organic, and full of tropical fruits and vegetables to enjoy. Our farm manager, Josue, and his wife Emily live on the farm in a separate house, and there is always someone on the property with you. Both are learning English, and love to share our farm with visitors. Hanna, the owner, and her husband, Hakan, frequently visit as well. Hanna speaks English, Spanish, Swedish, and some French and is usually available by phone. Hakan is fluent in Swedish and English. Our location and homes are unique. If you enjoy beautiful views, fresh, organic food, and afternoon breezes carrying the sound of howler monkeys and flocks of parrots, then our home may just be the place for you. Finca Ometepe offers a variety of living options. From a big house with wide open spaces to more intimate living in the renovated bus, all offer high-quality rustic living with amenities. The farm is situated high up on a hill, so it is great to have a car, motorcycle, or quad to get around. There are also many taxis available, and we can help you get shuttles anywhere you want to go. We have bicycles at the farm, and you can easily walk to the small village nearby, Balgue, to get a delicious meal at a local restaurant. Our farm hands can direct you to their favorites :) WHY RENT FINCA OMETEPE-Experience a quiet farm off the beaten track in the tropical forest while still in close proximity to horse riding, hikes and beaches. Meet local Nicaraguans that work on the farm and that will make sure you have a memorable visit. Relish the wonderful views of the lake and the two volcanos. Enjoy the large balcony with an almost constant breeze that keeps the insects away. Wake up to the sound of monkeys, parrots, goats, and yes, a rooster. Pick your own snack from the tree on the farm. Eat it fresh or dry it for another day. Milk a goat or collect your own eggs. The house is 100% powered by renewable energy, sun and wind. We recycle and/or re-use everything-plastics, paper, and food scraps go either to the chickens, the goats (fruits), and the worm bin to make our organic fertilizer. We use no pesticides, so when we need to "fumigate" for pests, we use a spray made from garlic, onion, and chile peppers. We will let you know so you don't go downwind!
