🌟Fabulous cottage in the heart of the Cotswolds

Welcome to No 1 The Square. The perfect choice for couples, families and/or friends looking for a relaxing stay in the Cotswolds. Upper Slaughter lies in the heart of the Cotswolds so is the ideal location for exploring this incredible region. The front door opens into a large hall with ample space/pegs for all your outdoor clothing. To the left of the hall is the sitting room with exposed beams, inglenook fireplace and a large woodburning stove (wood provided), there is comfortable seating for up to six adults as well as a Smart TV, DVD player and radio/bluetooth speaker. Off from the sitting room is the country kitchen/diner, with an electric cooker, fridge/freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher and ceramic sink. Also on the ground floor you will find one double bedroom, with a woodburning stove (very romantic during long winter nights!), and a large shower room. The shower room also incorporates the laundry facilities with washing machine and clothes dryer. The stairs lead up to the remaining two bedrooms and main bathroom. There is also a large landing on the first floor, which provides an additional seating area – great for quiet contemplation or for off-loading the kids. The cottage retains many original features and has been painted in muted colours throughout in order to retain its feeling of calm and relaxation. This is further promoted by pocket-sprung mattresses on all the beds to guarantee a good night’s sleep. Outside is a courtyard with outdoor seating and a BBQ. There is also a small lawned garden. The cottage and garden is available for the exclusive use of our guests. We live about 20 minutes from Upper Slaughter so can easily get to you if there are any problems. Upper Slaughter sits astride the Rive Eye, three miles south-west of Stow on the Wold and two miles north-west of Bourton on the Water. The name, Slaughter, is derived from the old Saxon word, Slohtre, meaning a muddy place, but don’t let this put you off! It is a truly wonderful Cotswold village that remains totally unspoilt. There is an abundance of fantastic places to visit in the local area: wonderful village pubs, incredible stately homes, farm shops, family days out, etc. Whatever you are looking for we are confident you will find it, practically on your doorstep. There is also an extensive network of walks and cycle routes, with Upper Slaughter joining the Gloucestershire Way, Monarch’s Way, Macmillan Way and the Heart of England Way. We would recommend having a car. There is a designated parking place next to the cottage, with additional parking available in the village square, just a few meters from the cottage.
