There is a large enclosed garden so children and dogs can play safely. You can walk directly from the cottage into the surrounding countryside or into Sticklepath, where you will find a local shops and pubs. Sticklepath is also home to the National Trusts Finch Foundry, a 19th century forge which will keep all ages entertained during your visit. Okehampton, the gateway to Dartmoor, is a short distance way and as well as having a good selection of shops and amenities and has very good access onto Dartmoor to enjoy the dramatic landscape this National Park provides. There is also Okehampton Castle which is worth a visit and a walk along the old railway to Meldon reservoir has some stunning views and nearby National Trust Castle Drogo. The location of the cottages makes an ideal base from which to explore the North Cornwall and Devon areas. There are stunning beaches at Woolacombe and Sandymouth. Enjoy a day out at Hartland and visit the lighthouse, Hartland Quay and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. If gardens really are of interest, you will found the RHS gardens a Rosemoor a delight and there are numerous National Trust properties in the surrounding area to enjoy. Other highlights in the local area include, Roadwater Lake, Dingles Steam Museum. Golf, horse riding or hire a bike and explore the Tarka Trail. Shop and pub ¾ mile, restaurant 4½ miles.
