Experience a slice of Americana in this 200 year-old historic river front cottage. Unwind on the cozy front porch, enjoy the sound of the water from the dock (seasonal) and relax in comfort in the charming cottage full of character and modern amenities. The house is perfect for gathering groups of families and friends to experience the history of the town or play on the river, surrounding creeks and the countryside. The home, which played host to President U.S. Grant as a boy, has a tremendous amount of character and charm. The front porch and the living and dining area around the hearth are the home's most outstanding features. Portions of the house are 200 years old, we are continuously working to restore and add charm to every room. The location is in the heart of Ripley's Historic waterfront and a short walk to museum sites and a couple of restaurants and bars. You will have access to the full home, front porch, back porch, back yard and riverside dock area. All areas are to be used at your own risk, specifically the dock (seasonal) and the stairs to the dock. Please use caution. Ripley is a charming historic town and a hidden gem. It features 2 remarkable historic sites, The John Rankin House and The John Parker House, and countless historic markers and buildings to enjoy. The town sets on the Ohio River which is a major summer draw, along with country roads, covered bridges, wineries and a few bars/restaurants. The town is easily seen by foot, bike or boat. You will need a car for some of the surrounding activities like winery visits, hiking and more regional historical sites.
