'What Knot' is a recently converted carriage house. It is self contained and set in a pretty country garden tucked away in the medieval village of Alfriston in the Cuckmere Valley. It has a sitting room and kitchen on the ground floor and a bedroom with a king size bed and shower room on the first floor. It's perfect for couples wanting a peaceful break, visitors to Glyndebourne or walkers/cyclists to rest after a long day on the South Downs! 'What Knot' is only 100m from the South Downs Way. 'What Knot' retains many of its original features like the natural brick floor and internal wooden cladding which were removed during the conversion and lined with layers of sheeps wool and other natural insulating materials before being replaced. One wall in the downstairs room has been painted with a mural by a local artist. The kitchen area is equipped with microwave/convection oven, toaster etc. The following will be provided to get you started: tea, coffee, milk, sugar, eggs, cereal, bread, butter, jam, oil, s&p, w.up liquid. Upstairs is the bedroom and small ensuite shower room. There are roof windows which flood the room with light but they also have blackout blinds fitted! There is free WiFi and USB ports for charging devices. There is a patio area with a table and chairs to enjoy the fresh air! Parking is on the drive. There is another double room available with its own private access which is attached to the main house , should guests in 'What Knot' need an extra room. See separate listing. Access is by key safe. I live in the main house but may not be around during guests' stay. I will be contactable by phone or text. If I'm around I won't bother you but please ask if you need anything. Alfriston is a remarkable village. It has a thirteenth century church, the first ever National Trust House and a wealth of historical buildings. Two minutes walk away will take you to the medieval high street that hosts olde world inns, coffee shops, antique/gift shops and a well stocked Village store and deli to cater for all your needs. Seaford beach is a 10 min drive away. There are many country walks and stunning views in the area. Situated just off the A27, there is easy access to Gatwick Airport (50 mins) Brighton (25 mins) Lewes (15 mins) Glyndebourne Opera House (10 mins) and the seaside (10 mins) Due to the coronavirus, extra steps are being taken to clean and sanitise the areas. Special attention is paid to frequently touched surfaces between bookings.
