A spacious light and airy double room with en-suite shower room is available in this unusual Victorian house. Breakfast included. There are two pubs within easy reach - one in Poynings and one in the next village - approximately a mile. Both serve good food and beer. All bed linen and towels are provided. WIFI available. Check in is normally after 4pm but please contact me if you need to make specific arrangements. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The self serve continental breakfast is provided in a separate downstairs room where French windows open onto the garden. A microwave and refrigerator are provided for your exclusive use. I have two double rooms available one on this listing and one under South Downs village. Guests are welcome to use the large living room where TV is available. This room has a large wood burning stove making it very cosy on colder days. The spacious kitchen is also available if guests wish to use the microwave etc. Guests are welcome to make use of the garden, to sit and relax, eat breakfast, etc. We will always be in the house during your stay. However we respect your privacy and will keep our distance unless help or advice is required The village lies at the foot of the legendary landmark of Devil's Dyke, now part of the South Downs National Park. The South Downs Way is about half a mile away and runs along the Devils Dyke. Devils Dyke is a famous site for hangliding and paragliding. Poynings is a great base for exploring the local countryside with Brighton 6 miles South, Lewes 10 miles East, Worthing 10 miles West. Beautiful and historic towns such as Chichester and Arundel are within easy reach, London is an hour by train and Gatwick approx 30 minutes by road. The village is very small (250 people) and has a lovely church and pub but no shops. There is a wonderful award winning farm shop and nursery with cafe approx a mile away. Many walkers and cyclists make a stop off at villages along the South Downs Way Otherwise a car is a definite requirement. Hassocks or Brighton are the nearest railway stations. We have a cat which is not allowed into the guest bedrooms but otherwise has free run of the house and garden.
