Box Cottage, Broadwell, Stow on the Wold Cotswolds

Box Cottage is a beautiful little detached stone cottage in the north Cotswold Village of Broadwell. Only 1.5 miles from Stow-on-the-Wold and located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is a great base for walkers or couples just wanting a relaxing holiday. The Cottage is very well equipped and has its own 'secret courtyard garden' for guests to enjoy. The local Pub - The Fox serves excellent food and is only five minutes walk away. No Pets please! The front door opens into the cosy sitting room where you will find comfy chairs and a wood-burning stove (for which an initial supply of logs is provided) plus a 40” Smart TV with Netflix. A staircase leads to the double bedroom with king size (150 cm) bed with pocket sprung mattress. This room has exposed oak beams and a high sloping ceiling. The en-suite bathroom has an over-bath thermostatically controlled shower. Downstairs the well equipped kitchen with Dishwasher, Nespresso Coffee Machine etc. has a back door which leads to the garden area. This is accessed by a trellised walkway, through to your own courtyard garden. Garden furniture and BBQ are provided. Free on street parking opposite the cottage. Your hosts - Vanessa and Colin live in The Old Chapel next door and are on hand to help you make the most of your holiday. Broadwell is in an ideal location. Although it is only a short distance from Stow on the Wold, it is relatively undiscovered and therefore a quiet village. Several National Trust properties are close by including Chastleton House, Snowshill Manor and Hidcote Gardens. Cheltenham Racecourse is 18 miles away. Box Cottage is a great base for exploring the north Cotswolds. We strongly recommend that our Guests have a car as Broadwell is not well serviced by public transport. You need to enjoy walking if you come without a car! There are main line rail stations at Moreton in Marsh and Kingham, both approximately four miles away. Broadwell is very picturesque with a large village green and lovely mellow Cotswold stone cottages. A gentle stream runs through the village creating a ford over the road by the village hall. The Fox Inn serves local Donnington ales and good pub food. The 12th century Church of St Paul's stands in a tree shaded cemetery where there is a magnificent yew tree that is over 1300 years old. The graveyard has some very old bale tombs, several dating back to the sixteenth century.
