Firefly Retreat-- private 2 BD Apt in Northland

Enjoy a 2 bedroom suite --private entrance, kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms, and laundry/bathroom. Plenty of room to park your boat as you scope out a lake for day trips. Beautiful downtown Bemidji is 4 miles down the road and Walker and Park Rapids are about 40, all of which have lovely shops and restaurants. We have two cats and a dog. May not be appropriate for severely allergic guests, or if you don't like country living. NOTE: This apartment is chemical free. We are on the edge of town yet in the country, one mile from Lake Bemidji and bike trails, four miles from downtown. Hosts live on site but in separate unit, when home they're available for questions/problems that may arise. Plenty of room to park car or boat. Private outdoor space with grill and seating area, space for yard games. We have chosen to clean this space using chemical-free cleaners, and we supply chemical-free shampoos and body care items for guests to share. Laundry detergent is also chemical-free. As this is a new amenity, please let us know if you encounter any chemical items in our apartment that we may have missed. Thank you! Note: If you sleep extremely lightly, or you have babies who need absolute quiet, we may not be appropriate for you, as our dog barks sometimes. We don't let him out until after 8am, but he loves guests and will probably come to your door! Beorn is a huge German Shepherd who thinks it's his job to greet, and protect, everyone :) There is a door between the apartment and our home, and it is locked at all times. So anything you can access in the apartment is yours to use. We do have some things stored in the closets and bathroom cupboards, but probably nothing you would be interested in (like a punch bowl and a crock pot!), unless you would like to replace your sheets for any reason. Otherwise, we are always available via text or email if you have a question. Occasionally, one of us may knock on the door to see if you're home-- if we blow a fuse in the house, we need to access your bathroom momentarily. One of us or our grown children or a house sitter is usually here to meet you and show you around. After that, you see us only when you want to. Unless you run into us in the driveway, or our dog wanders over to say hello while you're sitting outside. It's beautiful. Neighbors aren't close by, and are separated from us by our huge garden fence. Bemidji is a lovely town-- we highly recommend Tutto Bene for incredibly well done Italian food (like seriously over the top good), and Bemidji Brewery for awesome local brew (also has great food-- the pizzas are wonderful)! Brigids Pub is a really fun Irish Pub with good food, and the 209 makes the best burger in town :) Also the hotdog place, Lucky Dogs, and the ice cream parlor, Big River Scoop are both awesome! We have left brochures of Bemidji and places of interest in the apartment for you. Feel free to ask us questions as they arise. The grill outside the apartment is yours to use, as is the table/chairs/canopy. We do recycle, so if you could keep recyclables separate from garbage, in the separate bin, that would be great! Also, the floors in our apartment are acid washed cement. They look pretty but are a bit hard on the feet after a while-- you might consider bringing slippers or comfy soled indoor shoes. We live in the home attached to the apartment, and sometimes we have our grown children over for supper and games, especially over holidays. We can be loud-- we enjoy our kids!-- so please consider this if you expect total quiet. We honor the 11pm to 7 am quiet hours regardless. Please note: in the fall, usually September-October, you may see spiders (almost exclusively Daddy Long-Legs-- we don't have poisonous spiders here). We clean between every guest, but they are fast and determined to get in out of the cold. You may see hedge balls (they look like lumpy green apples) under the beds or in corners; these are non-toxic ways to deter them. We clean in-between each guest using Airbnb standards and then some; we also run our ozone air cleaner.
