Three two bedroomed grade II* listed thirteenth century Luxury Holiday Cottages located in Easington Village on East Durham's Heritage Coast. Originally built by the Prince Bishops of Durham the cottages have been beautifully restored, furnished and equipped to provide a unique warm and welcoming stay at this truly exceptional accommodation. Each cottage has its own unique charm, character and atmosphere. The Farmhouse sleeps four persons in two bedrooms. Entering the cottage through the front hall you are greeted by a spacious yet cosy lounge/diner with stone reveals, wood burning stove, feature window, window seat, table and four chairs, comfortable seating , television, radio and reading material. This leads through to a fully fitted farmhouse style kitchen comprising of an eye level oven, microwave, electric hob, integrated fridge freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, table and four chairs. A cloakroom is also situated on the ground floor On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a super king size bed As well as an Ercol day Bbd/settee. The room boasts amazing feature oak beams. (Carbon dating on these beams indicates they were felled during the reign of King Henry VIII). The west gable of the room frames a spectacular gothic arched window. The master also has its own luxury ensuite bathroom with his and hers washbasins, walk-in shower and relaxing roll top bath. Bedroom 2 has zip and link twin beds providing the option of another super king size bed. The room has a feature arched window, stone reveals and ancient exposed beams. This room also features an ensuite shower room. Externally there is private carparking and a communal courtyard style garden The building was formerly the house and barn of our family farm. It has recently come back into our ownership after a gap of 20 years. We have lovingly restored this 13th century building in a truly sympathetic way which has ensured that the buildings many original features have been preserved and in some cases enhanced. A great deal of love, work and passion has been invested to produce a truly outstanding group of cottages. The interior design and furnishings are the work of Kathryn. Together with her husband and brother they make up the partnership Tithe Barn Cottages. Kathryn hosts the cottages and is the main contact for guests. She has undertaken a considerable change in career direction to make these truly wonderful cottages available for our guests. Kathryns brother Ian runs the family farm and is always on hand to lend assistance while her husband Terry deals with the the accounts, marketting as well as being the on call handy person.
