The Old Stables

On the Suffolk Essex border surrounded by fields, trees, and plenty of wildlife lies our old late 18th century stable building. Just 5 minutes off the A12 and you are in a different world. We live in the thatched Farm Cottage, the oldest part dating back to the 15th century and the stable is situated at the end of the drive. Excellent location for cycling (on the National Cycle Route 1), or visiting Jimmys Farm just 4.9 miles up the road. Walking is a must or just relax and unwind! We neighbour a veterinary practice called The Barn Veterinary Practice. Please do not enter their driveway but enter our driveway at Cottage Farm which is a pink thatched cottage jutting out into the road with a white wooden fence at the front. A white camper van stands on the drive and there is a ceramic cat standing at the entrance to our drive to ensure you don’t miss us. The village has a pub offering excellent food and there are various other eating places in the area. The town of Ipswich and Hadleigh are within 10 minutes drive. Also within easy access are the towns of Colchester and Felixstowe. Lavenham, Long Medford, Clare and Sudbury are within easy reach and Constable Country is a 15 minute drive. We live close to The Old Stables so please knock on the door for help and we will be very pleased to assist. Be rest assured, nothing is too much trouble! If you enjoy walking and cycling this is the perfect area for you with much to explore. Wedding venues such as the Tudor Barn, Copdock Hall, and Jimmy’s Farm are just down the road. The best way to get around is to drive if it’s further afield but for enjoying the local countryside definitely bring bikes which can be stored in the lockable room beside The Old Stables. For the wedding venues we suggest the short ride by taxi or car. Tea, coffee, sugar, cereal, milk and bottled water are available to all guests. Towels, bedding, tea towels and all cleaning supplies are for guest use and in the property. Soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided.
