Situated on the edge of the New Forest and within the boundary of the New Forest National Park Badgers Rest at Oakhurst has recently been renovated and offers modern contemporary accommodation for those who want a break away from the hustle and bustle. There are ample opportunities for walking and cycling and the beautiful Jurassic coast is within easy driving distance. The major cities of Bournemouth, Southampton and Salisbury are all within a 20 mile radius. Badgers Rest is a self contained annexe to our main house and offers self catering accommodation comprising a living room, bedroom with en-suite toilet, kitchen and fully equipped shower room. Towels, bedding and bathroom essentials are provided at no additional cost. The bedroom is up a flight of stairs therefore reasonable mobility is essential. Well behaved medium sized dogs are welcome and there is a shared garden area with BBQ facilities available on request. (Please note dogs are not allowed on the furniture and we cannot guarantee dogs cannot escape the back garden although it is fully fenced.) Dogs must also not be left alone in the property when guests go out. There are no clothes washing facilities however in an emergency we will be able to help out at an additional cost which will be agreed at the time. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. Bicycles can be securely stored in our garage whilst here. You will likely meet Tilly, our Border Collie, during your visit; she is very friendly although a little timid when she first meets new people as she is a rescue dog and had a tough first year of her life. Superfast broadband is available throughout Badgers Rest. Unfortunately we do not accept children; Badgers Rest is not equipped for children of any age and our insurance policy specifically identifies no children to be hosted on the property as the risks to a child are too great e.g. stairs and no stair gates, TV's and display cabinets that could be pulled over on top of them, etc. As parents ourselves who were always having to watch our girls carefully when they were growing up we would certainly not want to be responsible for a child injuring themselves, we could not live with that. Besides full use of the private annexe guest are able to use the shared patio area where there is a table and chairs to either sit and relax or enjoy meals outside. Badgers Rest is an annexe to the main house in which we (Caroline & Kevin) live and unless there are exceptional circumstances at least one of us will be there to welcome you and address any questions you may have during the duration of your stay. Our aim is to make your stay as enjoyable as it possibly can be. As a landscape photographer Kevin is willing to offer guided tours and tuition at additional cost if required. The New Forest is an exceptional area for touring, hiking and cycling and the property fronts on to the New Forest National Park and deer can often be seen in our front garden (although hunting them is not allowed by law). There is an abundance of other wildlife in the forest just waiting to be found and photographed. Ringwood has its own brewery and hosts a market every Wednesday and the beautiful towns of Brockenhurst and Lymington are well worth a visit; as is Burley which is just a stones throw away. For those interested in cycling the many track in the New Forest but do not want to bring a bike with them bike hire is available in Burley. There are many good pubs in the area most of who do good pub food and some even welcome dogs. Coffee shops and restaurants are in abundance in Ringwood, you are almost spoilt for choice. Being situated in the New Forest there are many walks and cycling tracks accessible directly from the property however, a car is required to travel to other places as the property is located a little way out of town and is not serviced by any bus routes. From the centre of Ringwood there are regular bus services to Bournemouth, Salisbury and Southampton. The nearest railway stations are those of Christchurch and Brockenhurst which offer regular services to London (or Weymouth in the opposite direction). Travelling to other parts of the country by rail will require a change of train at one of the stations en-route e.g. Southampton, Woking, etc. At this challenging time bookings are by request only to ensure there are 3 clear days between guest stays; this is to allow for complete cleaning and sanitisation of the property for both our and our guests safety.
