Woodcroft Farm-secluded-scenic-peaceful-relaxing
Woodcroft Farm is a mile outside the village of Stanhope, in Weardale, part of the North Pennines AONB, a short drive from the historic cathedral city of Durham. We may sound biased when we say "we live in one of the most beautiful places on earth" There are not many places you can find total peace and quiet with fresh air to breath & only birds song to hear. Come & drink in the country air & sit out late under the stars with zero light pollution in your very own private garden. The accommodation is all on one floor with an open plan modern living and dining area. The cottage is light and airy with high ceilings and wooden beams. The family bathroom has a large bath with an overhead shower. The double bedroom is light and bright with meadow views. The twin room has two single beds and room for a cot or an extra bed for a small child, allowing a family of five to visit. The twin room has twinkling night lights that look like stars, especially for the children, as there are no street lights. On a clear night the dark sky displays a wonderful view of the milky way. Outside there is a private walled garden and patio dining area. The cottage is surrounded by open fields with a variety of views throughout the farming season. The cottage stands in its own private walled garden with a large wooden entrance gate. Its a safe environment for small children to play with a patio on one side of the cottage and lawn on the other. The cottage is a field away from our home and we are always on hand to answer questions during your stay. There are local shops and excellent dining pubs within ½ mile and there is a steam railway 1 mile away in the village of Stanhope. The perfect holiday cottage for both couples & families whether you want to relax & unwind, go walking, cycling or touring the area. County Durham is one of England’s most northerly counties with a rich and varied heritage and some of the most impressive scenery can be seen in the Durham Dales. Our self catering holiday cottage is located in Weardale part of the North Pennines AONB. The local area has a large variety of farm shops and interesting venues to enjoy a coffee or lunch. The North Pennines have been designated as an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty", with spectacular walks including the Weardale Way which passes through our farm and the Pennine Way which is within easy reach. If you're a keen mountain biker, there are lots of tracks surrounding our farm perfect for just that! or its only a 5 minute car ride to the beautiful Hamsterley forest, which is a bikers paradise! Bike hire is also available there! We had one guest visit from Canada and used public transport during their stay, although this is possible it is adviseable to have the use of your own vehicle to properly enjoy the area. The changeover days are Friday or Monday, for either a full week or a short break. A weekend short break is 3 nights, Friday to Monday. A midweek short break is 4 nights, Monday to Friday. If you have any other requirements please ask in advance.
