A charming little 19th Century canalside cottage & garden situated down a leafy lane on the outskirts of Coventry ....seconds away are two canals under a beautiful historical bridge -lined with Narrow boats and a working lock. There are tree lined canal walks where you can see ducks and wildlife . Less than a hundred yards away is an award winning whitewashed real ale family pub with gardens serving great food-and a separate play area for the kids . Only a few Minutes from M6 & Ricoh arena. This canal workers cottage is in a hamlet - 20 seconds from two picturesque canals -where you can sit and watch the narrowboats and ducks go by. This canal workers cottage retains its original character but is finished to a high minimalist spec - with pale neutral walls that give this bijou gem an airy tranquil feel . The front room has a chaise longue with two large chairs ,occasional tables and TV that leads to a dining space-that can seat 3. French doors lead to a leafy private un manicured garden,a delightful place to eat in during the warmer months.There is an outdoor table and three outdoor chairs for al fresco dining . There is a gorgeous contemporary bathroom & galley kitchen on the ground floor. An airy double bedroom with queen size bed and a small wardrobe with shelves ,and a charming single bedroom are up a set of quite steep winding wooden (Website hidden by Airbnb) note that the steepness of the stairs make the cottage unsuitable for those with infirmities-as the bathroom is also downstairs . There is no broadband but the TV has freeview and there are DVDs as well . WiFi is accessible on your smartphone.Please be aware that the garden is gated but smaller children will need to be watched as it is not toddler /young child proof. The whole cottage is yours with sole use of the private un manicured garden.There is free parking immediately outside for 1 guest ,with a free public parking facility for more vehicles seconds away along the lane. A public bus service is available from the end of the lane .Taxis are easy to book to and from the area. The cottage has a keysafe so that you can let yourself in.Arrival is strictly at 4pm onwards as covid rules and the changover will be in place -For your safety and our safety. This area is an extraordinary oasis on the edge of a city.It is a popular place for people to come for a stroll along the canals or have a meal by the water & admire the incredibly picturesque bridge .You can also watch the narrow boats navigate through the working lock by the Victorian lock keepers cottage . There are seven canal workers cottages,The lock keepers cottage,The pub, and some trades workshops hidden at the rear of the cottage (Website hidden by Airbnb) There are also residential narrow boats on both canals as well as working and holiday boats travelling through. A car is preferable,although there are buses at the end of the lane that go into Coventry.There are also very regular taxis that come to this spot. The nearest shop is approx 15 minutes stroll or a 5 minute car drive-although the nearby pub sells excellant award winning pub food & liquid refreshment! The cottage is in a great location to get to many tourist attractions:Warwick Castle & Stratford upon Avon , The Roman Lunt Fort,Coventry cathedral ,Ricoh arena & Birmingham NEC to name but a few.It is situated only a few minutes from the M6 too .There are lovely canal side walks where you can watch narrow boats going through the working lock right on your doorstep. It is smoke free and animal free .Please note there is no wifi in the cottage but smartphones get reception. The historic pub is family run and is very respectful of the residents who live in the nearby cottages. The pub has a charming garden and seating to eat by the canal-they even have a narrowboat that visits to sell cheese! Often the pub have musical duo's performing (not too loud)! In winter they also have real fires. This is a tranquil spot with some lovely nature and birdsong however -because there is a pub (and workshops at the rear of the cottage gardens) - Please be aware that there is going to be some noise associated with staying in this popular little oasis. The nearest small shop is approx 15 minutes stroll or a 3 minute car drive.There is also a large variety of superstores from Tesco to Aldi & Boots a 12 minute drive away.
