Beautiful Barkway Lodge

The peaceful country retreat of Barkway Lodge is a beautifully converted stable consisting of a large double bedroom with a spacious en suite walk-in shower room, a full kitchen, and comfortable lounge area incl. TV, wifi, parking and a breakfast hamper. The Lodge is set in beautiful peaceful surroundings, it is quaint, spacious and tastefully decorated in a rustic modern style. Guests have access to the Stable Lodge and the local grounds as well as our local knowledge should you need it. You will receive a friendly checkin and tour of the accommodation, should you need anymore information on the local area or facilities we are on hand in the main house to help. Surrounded by countryside offering beautiful views and local wildlife the area is perfect for walking enthusiasts and lovers of the outdoors, or simply for those looking to escape the city for some well deserved relaxation time. Barkway is a quintessential small English village complete with 15th/16th century properties, thatched roofs, a flint stone church, local cricket club, golf course and of course a friendly local pub. The village is well known for its annual village market held on May bank holiday. The recently refurbished 'Tally Ho' pub offers a superb food menu as well as a plentiful selection of wines and ales. There is also a village shop, garage and petrol station in the neighbouring village of Barley for all your basic needs. Cambridge city centre is only a 25 minute drive and Royston a 10 minute drive which also offers a rail service to Cambridge in 20 minutes or 45 minutes to London. Stansted and Luton airports are within a 30 minute drive, Duxford is a 15 minute drive and Hertford only a 25 minute drive. We would recommend walking around Barkway and neighbouring village Barley, however from Royston there are ample rail and bus options to surrounding villages and cities including Hertford, Cambridge and Duxford.
