The "Upstairs Studio" in The Annexe, comprises a sunny, well-equipped and pretty studio apartment with its own kitchen/dining area and bathroom. The larger "Downstairs Studio" is listed separately. Situated in the beautiful Meon Valley and South Downs National Park. Ideal for cyclists, walkers and riders as it has direct access to the countryside and Meon Trail from the garden. Lockable bike storage, heated swimming pool (May to Oct), lots of outdoor space and ultra fast broadband. The Annexe is a great base for those walkers, cyclists or riders that want to explore the Meon Valley and South Downs National Park, as it connects directly from the grounds to The Meon Way which links to the Forest of Bere and South Downs Way. Stunning countryside and ancient woodland on your doorstep with attractive medieval villages nearby and country pubs - many of which are dog friendly. The Annexe can be let as a whole (with both studios) or separately for the upstairs or downstairs studios. There is a front entrance and lobby area and then separate entrances to the studios, each lockable. It is very flexible accommodation to suit couples or families and friends. This listing is for the "Upstairs Annexe Studio" (which is smaller than downstairs) with an en-suite shower room with power shower and sleeps two in a double bed. It also has a small double sofa bed and a well equipped kitchen area, including two ceramic hotplates, a full size fridge (with small ice-box), a microwave, toaster, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and sandwich toaster. The studio is very sunny with a big Veluxe window overlooking the pool and garden and French doors with a Juliette Balcony. The upstairs studio has open stairs at the top and for that reason is not suitable for young children. It is also smaller and so has limited space for baby/toddler equipment. The shower doesn't have room for a baby bath in it. The annexe has ultra fast broadband which can have a wired or wi- fi connection. Both studios have SMART TV's with Netflix etc. Both studios are heated with constant hot water and power showers. There is the option to have an office space - please let us know if you would require this. Parking is at the rear of the annexe and there is lockable storage for any bikes. The annexe guests are welcome to share our large garden (3.5 acres) and heated swimming pool. However the pool is not open all year round (generally May to October) and is not fenced off, so children and pets must be supervised. We have a friendly if excitable collie, that has free rein in the garden and two ponies in the paddock. The menege and paddock are fenced but still accessible and so again animals and children would need to be supervised and are not allowed in the paddock or menege Plenty of walking and cycling direct from the house and you can walk into Wickham. Otherwise you will need a car as there is no public transport. Nearest stations are Fareham and Botley. Richard and Julia are newly retired and ready to host guests in their lovely annexe, sharing their heated swimming pool and large garden. We live in the main house and so are on hand to answer any queries and to make sure your stay is happy and comfortable. The South Downs National Park and Meon Valley are beautiful with lovely walks and chalk streams. Ancient woodlands such as The Forest of Bere are beautiful - especially in bluebell season. Old Winchester Hill is nearby as is the medieval towns of Wickham and Bishops Waltham. Both of these are pretty with lovely cafes and independent shops. The Meon valley is steeped in history and East Meon is linked to Bayeaux and features in the Bayeaux Museum. The Cathedral cities of Winchester and Chichester are 25 minutes away, together with many other attractions such as The Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth, the New Forest, River Hamble (for sailing), beaches and nature reserves and Goodwood Racecourse. Some pubs are walkable such as The Roebuck or The White Lion at Soberton - both of which are dog friendly. There is a local trekking centre in Soberton: "South Downs Trekking" and many other riding centres. You will need a car to access the wider area, but Wickham can be walked or cycled to (3 miles). The local train stations are at Fareham and Botley, but we are not on a bus route. The pool is now closed until 1st May 2022.
