La Maison Timmes is a historic farmhouse (circa 1700) sitting on the edge of a pretty village set in its own private 3 acres of rural countryside. Set just 5 minutes drive from all amenities of the famous and bustling Sainte-Mère-Eglise or Picauville and 20 mins from Carentan. The landing beaches, museums and war graves are all within easy reach. In June 1944 a famous battle between the Germans and US forces took place here in what became known as "Timmes Orchard". La Maison Timmes was used as a regional command post and as a field hospital by the Americans when the area had been secured after numerous days of fighting. There are original US paratrooper foxholes and plaques placed in "The Orchard" with bullet holes still visible in the external walls.
