Exquisite, self contained, newly built stone extension to a farmhouse, two double rooms, one with the option of a twin. On the edge of the Pennines with panoramic views of the valley. A perfect base to explore the surrounding hills and canal. This is a self contained, stone built extension to the farmhouse, with its own separate entrance and driveway. Upstairs it has two double bedrooms ( one of which can be either two single beds or one kingsized double ) and a bathroom with shower. Downstairs is one spacious area, comprising a well resourced kitchen, an old spanish dining table and a lounge area, with TV (full Sky package), Hi Fi and Wi Fi. There is a Utility room, with washing machine and tumble drier. Also an Entrance space with downstairs toilet. Guests have access to the whole house with a private driveway and shared garden. I am available to be contacted by telephone or email during your stay. We have very friendly neighbours who are willing to help out too. Tucked between the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales, this is ‘Where the Heart Beats’ and ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ country, yet still relatively unexplored. It abounds in opportunities for both the occasional and experienced walker, together with cycling and horse riding, and the joys of mouching about thriving West Yorkshire villages. Yet it is also within easy reach of Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester city centres. The villages of Slaithwaite and Marsden are both flourishing, with lovely coffee shops, real ale pubs, restaurants , take-aways, pharmacies, community greengrocers, specialist shops ( eg a hand made bakery) and supermarkets . Just 5 minutes walk from the cottage is ‘The Rose and Crown’, a restaurant-pub serving a superb range of good and reasonably priced food. Over the hill, and you’re into the Holme Valley and Holmfirth, with a lovely range of quirky shops. Canal The Huddersfield Narrow Canal, built at the height of the textile trade, makes its way from Huddersfield, through the Colne Valley, with its many locks, and then journeys 3 miles through the famous Standedge Tunnel under the Pennines before going onto to Oldham and Manchester. It has a lovely towpath, and an outstanding exhibition centre at Marsden, all of which can be accessed just at the bottom of the road. By far the best way to enjoy the area is using a car. This will give you access to many delightful trips through the local countryside. The house itself is harder to access on foot and if you do come by train we advise taking a cab. By road. We are only 10 minutes from the M62. Railway Slaithwaite has its own station, from which trains run hourly to Manchester City Centre, plus stations in between from which to explore both sides of the Pennines. In the other direction, there are hourly trains to Huddersfield ( just 7 mins), and from there is a fast service to Leeds and beyond ( eg York and Scarborough). Whilst our house is pet free for our guests, however our neighbours do have a cat. Those who are very allergic may notice this rare visitor.
