A stylish rural gem in central Alresford

The Lookout is a new, stylishly furnished guest suite with its own private entrance and breathtaking views across the Itchen valley. It boasts a fantastic location, being only a 5 minute stroll into the picture postcard Georgian market town of Alresford. The Lookout manages to retain a rural feel despite its proximity to the town centre, accessed down a long private driveway, surrounded by fields. There is ample private parking and bike storage for avid cyclists. We are committed to Airbnb's enhanced cleaning protocol to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Lookout has been furnished in a cool contemporary style with a super comfy king size double bed and a fantastic ensuite bathroom. There is a TV , wifi, sofa and table and chairs, microwave, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. On your arrival, a starter welcome pack will be waiting for you containing bread, butter, milk, cereal, tea, coffee and jam. There is a Nespresso machine and milk frother to make a perfect Cappuccino and if you fancy a more substantial breakfast there are endless choices available on the doorstep, just a 5 minute stroll away in Alresford. Access is to the parking area andThe Lookout accommodation. We live in the main house with our 2 children (16 and 12) and our friendly dog Wooster the Cockapoo. During our stay we will be around and about should you need us. If you have a question or need anything just text us your query and we will get back to you as soon as we can. It's easy to see why. Alresford is a picture postcard, colour washed Georgian market Town situated in the countryside just 7 miles from Winchester. Its specialist shops sell a wonderful range of beautiful gifts, homeware, antiques, wonderful food, and on trend clothes for all ages. Now the home of the Watercress Line steam railway, so called because of its association with watercress farming, in what is now known as the UK's capital of watercress. The town hosts the annual Watercress Festival in May attracting thousands of visitors each year. Alresford is the perfect place for strolling and there is plenty to please the eye - The Fulling Mill and Eel House along the riverside walk, St. John's Parish Church, the Millennium Trail and Old Alresford Pond, created by Bishop de Lucy, Bishop of Winchester, in the 12th century. Close by is Hinton Ampner House & Garden. For foodies there is a great choice of cafes, takeaways, pubs and restaurants including our favourite, the uber cool tapas bar, Pulpo Negro, recently awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand. And don't forget to visit the Watercress Line steam railway that runs from Alresford to Alton through 10 miles of beautiful Hampshire countryside There are plenty of walks, too, the best of which follows the ridiculously gorgeous River Arle located at the bottom of our garden. Winchester is an easy 15 minute drive from the property and there is a direct bus route available from the centre of Alresford. There is also a reliable local taxi service but it's sensible to pre book. Numbers can be found in the information book at The Lookout. There are plenty of good walking routes in and around Alresford including the Millenium trail and the Wayfarers Walk. Please be aware that the accommodation is accessed via an external staircase but once inside there are no steps.
