A converted barn in a small farmyard setting with its own entrance and car parking for one vehicle only,Beretun is a comfortable, quiet haven with bedsitting room, separate bathroom and kitchen diner with everything you'll need for a great stay. Set in the heart of the popular Chilterns village of Little Missenden and ideal for walkers, Beretun is a luxurious and convenient base from which to explore this area of outstanding natural beauty, although only thirty miles from London. The accommodation is private and self contained with off street parking. It comprises a bathroom, kitchen(with microwave, kettle, hob,toaster,fridge,)and bed sitting room which sleeps two people. There is a flat screen TV and free Wi Fi. Beretun is 3 miles from Amersham Underground and mainline station with frequent trains to London and approximately 15 miles from Heathrow airport. A collection/delivery service may be possible given sufficient notice. Little Missenden boasts two pubs, The Crown and the Red Lion, both do lunchtime food but the Red Lion does evening meals as well. There is a very fine Saxon church with wonderful wall paintings recently restored and well worth a visit, if you time your visit accordingly you'll catch the renowned music festival held each October. The village is on the South Bucks Way, and the Ridgeway, a national trail, a few miles away-(again a drop off/pick up is available by arrangement). There are also many local walks, and we can provide maps. Nearby Gt. Missenden has the Roald Dahl Museum and Missenden Abbey, the latter running many varied weekend courses and summer schools. Day to day shopping is very good with various coffee shops, bars, galleries and interesting craft shops. Characterful Old Amersham has many pubs/restaurants and interesting and varied shops, and an enormous Tesco superstore.The main shopping area is Amersham on the Hill with various banks and a street market every Tuesday. Many local sports facilities include swimming, riding, tennis and golf, all available within a ten mile radius, with rambling straight from the doorstep. NOTE: Beretun is an early English word meaning barley house or barn. Beretun is completely self contained, guests can come and go as they please! As we live the other side of the courtyard we are easily available!
