A truly unique detached Hut in a stunning waterside setting. Located at the end of a private driveway on its very own island. This wonderful holiday home is set in a 0.75 acre garden with al fresco dining areas and includes private fishing, moorings and a slip to launch boats. The property shares the grounds with the owners bungalow and provides a living/dining/kitchen/sleeping area, separate shower room and large cupboard. Access to Boat Trips, canoes and other water sports. The Hut, formerly a shed but now tastefully renovated, sits in a quiet corner of the island. We have two dogs, an elderly Labrador and a young Standard Poodle, both very friendly, who spend their time in a fenced-off part of the island (they are never left to run freely) but you are free to visit them, if you choose to, (they're great fun!). Unfortunately, we can not accommodate other dogs in The Hut and no children are allowed as we are surrounded by river and canal, it's not the ideal place for children. The Hut is strictly a NO SMOKING area. We live on the Island so will be around if you need us, just give us a knock. Otherwise, we'll leave you to enjoy the island without disturbance. Little Baddow is a village to the east of Chelmsford, Essex. The village is positioned on one of the many elevated hills in Essex and comprises extensive woodlands owned by the National Trust and Essex Naturalist Trust. The village is bounded by the River Chelmer to the north. There are two pubs, The Generals Arms and The Rodney both offering a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a good meal. Danbury village (the next village along) has its own sports ground and clubhouse which is home to the local cricket club. 15 minute drive away is Chelmsford; an English city northeast of London. Some of its many attractions are Hylands House, built in 1730, which has restored interiors and hundreds of acres of parkland; the medieval Chelmsford Cathedral which features stained glass and a colourful ceiling; the Essex Regiment Museum which displays military artefacts such as weaponry, medals and uniforms and to the southeast, the RHS Garden Hyde Hall that has hilltop views and includes a rose garden and a woodland garden. Also close by is the historic town of Maldon famous for its Maldon Salt which offers many delightful shops, cafes and restaurants. Back in the year 1086, it was one of only two towns in Essex (Colchester was the other) recorded in the Doomsday Book. The buzzing little town now offers a wide range of places to visit and activities to enjoy and is especially famous for the Hythe Quay, home to many of the remaining Thames Barges. A variety of short trips are available on these ancient craft. Maldon is also home to the Promenade Park which was originally created on the sloping bank of the River Blackwater over one hundred years ago and is popular with visitors and residents alike. It is also the location for the famous Maldon Mud Race and other annual and special events. Here at Treasure Island we have direct access to the 14 mile length of river/canal bank stretching from Heybridge Basin Sea wall into Chelmsford Town Centre offering wonderful riverside walks on our doorstep. A bus service to Maldon, Chelmsford and surrounding areas runs from Little Baddow (bus stops at Spring Close, a 10 minute walk away from Treasure Island) and trains run into Liverpool Street, London from the mainline train station in Chelmsford. There are many beautiful walking and cycling routes very close by. Vehicle access to the island is restricted to cars and small vans only.
