Gorgeous Home with a View - Heron's Haven

Heron’s Haven is a characterful house on the wetland in Wakkerstroom. Wide open views onto the wetland and mountains beyond, yet centrally located and within walking distance to the historical core of the village. Come and listen to the quiet and restore your body and soul in the peaceful country air. All three bedrooms have bathrooms en-suite. The linen is high quality percale cotton and electrical blankets are available. The kitchen is fully equipped and is attached to the living space with ample sitting and dining space. There is also special nook for visiting in front of the coal stove in winter. Heron’s Haven is a beautifully restored cottage and dates to the late 1800s. It is built in the typical Vlei-style of the region, with yellow wood beams and a high pitched roof. This is a happy family home - with loads of board games for the children. Or, the house can function as a retreat for a couple looking for a special weekend away. The whole house is available to guests. The Wakkerstroom tourist Information centre is a wonderful source of local information. It is situated in the old Bioscope building in the main road - well signposted. Wakkerstroom is a birder’s paradise and there are a number of bird hides around the village. The village has a range of restaurants, bistros and pubs and local produce is the norm. Go for walks in the village and surrounds. Or, stay home and have breakfast under the apricot tree! In winter, the coal stove crackles away and provides a cozy heart to the house.
