Welcome to West Hoppyland; self-catering accommodation in our cosy wooden lodges. We are situated adjacent to Hamsterley Forest in the stunning landscape of the northern dales on the edge of the Pennine moors, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Picturesque Weardale is only four miles to the North, the breathtaking sights of Teesdale only six miles to the South. It is an ideal base for outdoor activities, and close to the historic cathedral city of Durham. The Lodges are situated in a quiet private wood on our farm. Our land is adjacent to Hamsterley Forest. You can access the forest through our field, either on foot or bike. There are 2 Lodges, Forest and Birch, and are listed on Airbnb separately. The lodges include everything you expect from self-catering, all you need to bring is your own towels, toiletries, food & drink. The Lodges are for up to 2 adults and 1 child (aged between 0-16yrs) only due to space, with one double Bedroom and one single bedroom. We only allow one dog per Lodge at a charge of £10 per stay. Guests are welcome to use our field to access the forest, on bike or foot. We live on the farm so are therefore available 24 hours should you need us. The beautiful village of Hamsterley is only one mile away, which has a country pub (The Cross Keys), serving homemade food & draught beer. We are fairly secluded, therefore being able to drive is necessary. However taxis can be arranged should you need one. Check-in is only available on a Friday or a Monday, with a minimum of 3 nights stay. Summer Holidays are for a minimum of 7 nights stay only. For longer stays, please send a reservation request and we will do our best to accommodate you. Hamsterley Forest is extremely popular for mountain bikers. We welcome all mountain bikers, your bikes will also be safe being kept at the Lodges. And with access to the forest only being through one of our fields, there is no need for you to pay to park in the forest each day. The Lodges are for up to 2 adults and 1 child (aged between 0-16yrs) only due to space, with one double Bedroom and one single bedroom. The Lodges are dog friendly and an ideal location for miles and miles of walks. However, we only allow 1 dog per Lodge, at a charge of £10 per stay, and ask that they aren’t left in the Lodge on their own and that they do not climb on the furniture. Please also let us know on booking if you intend to bring a dog. Towels are NOT included, so please bring your own. The TV in the lodge also has a DVD player integrated. We close annually on 1st November and reopen on 1st March. Please note, our normal cancellation policy applies for anything Covid related. It is the risk you take when making a booking.
