Tudor Thatch Cottage dates back to 1550 and was the subject of a Lilliput lane model, known as “Honeysuckle Cottage”. Situated in the village of Oakhanger it is ideal for walking as its surrounded by beautiful countryside and for exploring further afield by road. Such as Chawton village and Jane Austen’s house. With 3 country pubs within easy walking distance, the closest is 100yds, all serving good food. There is also a tea room just around the corner. Summer sun or cosy winter warmer The cottage is well set to provide you with a comfortable stay winter or summer. There is ample seating throughout and a gas BBQ to enjoy alfresco cooking or a cosy log burner in the lounge to warm you up after a winter walk. Tudor Thatch is full of character with its inglenook fireplaces, abundant exposed beams and carpenters marks. The cottage is tactile, welcoming and cosy but practical too, boasting good size rooms and a good layout. We feel privileged to be the owners and custodians of such a beautiful building and hope that our visitors love and appreciate it as much as we do. Guests will have exclusive use of the whole property and its gardens. There is parking for four vehicles on the driveway and a garage can be made available by separate negotiation should you require it for the duration of your stay. We intend to be on hand should you need us and aim to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. The village of Oakhanger is just in the Hampshire side of the surrey and Hampshire border. The market towns of Petersfield and Farnham are within a 20 minute drive. London is within easy access via road or rail from Alton. The coast is also around 35-40 minuets south on the A3. The village itself is friendly with a welcoming pub on the doorstep. There are some excellent walks to neighbouring villages. For the more committed walker there is easy access onto The Hangers Way and The Shipwrights Way can be accessed from Whitehill and Bordon. Tudor Thatch feels Rural but is only a 10 minute drive away from supermarkets, cash points and numerous take away's that will deliver. The market town of Alton around 15 minuets away, offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. We can arrange for a garage to be available for you, should you request it, if you wish to explore in a motor car which is a little different. There are some fabulous driving roads over the south downs. The cottage would make a good base to travel from for various Goodwood events such as The Festival Of Speed and The Revival to name but a few. We really hope you enjoy your time here. The Cottage has driveway parking for 3-4 vehicles. A garage can be made available if required for your visit by separate negotiation. The nearest mainline station is Alton which is around 15 minuets away. Farnham, which is on the same line, is around 20 minuets away. Both have a Taxi rank. There are further stations at Liss and Liphook. There is no bus service through the village.
