Low Westwood is a village equi-distant between Newcastle upon Tyne and Durham in the beautiful Derwent Valley. It's in a rural location just off the Coast-to-Coast cycle route about 20 miles from the North Sea coast line. Newcastle 30 mins by car, good bus service, also stops at the Metrocentre. Durham 20 mins Great for walking and country pubs. Industrial history, beautiful landscape, quiet and peaceful. Good for off road cycling, 4 historic railway lines meet at Consett, viaducts galore. We rent our spare room for short stays, it has a double bed and private ensuite bathroom. We can also provide a sofa bed for extra guests in a neighbouring room if required. Guests are welcome to use our kitchen for tea/coffee at any time and a simple breakfast is provided each morning on a help yourself basis. We are a retired couple and may or may not be here as we travel a lot. We live in a small village on the north-western fringe of County Durham, adjacent to the River Derwent which forms the boundary between Northumberland and Durham. Its in the beautiful Derwent Valley, walks galore!! There is an Italian Restaurant that doubles as a pub, a village shop, post office, chip shop, GP Surgery all within a mile of our house. * Regular bus routes to the Metrocentre and Newcastle. * Just off the Coast-to-Coast cycle route By negotiation we are also willing to rent our property for longer periods at a reduced rent in exchange for you looking after our pet Guinea Pigs. In this case you would have private use of the full house and emenities except our own bedroom which would be locked. Currently looking for house sitting guests May and June 2022.
