Fjordlandskab og havørred: Fiskehotspot i Isefjord
'Super hyggeligt Originalt Sommerhus, direkte ned til Vandet! Børrehoved er absolut Orøs bedste beliggenhed! Her smelter natur, badestrand, historie og fint fiskeri efter havørred sammen i perfekt forening! (Review March 2020)' Our summerhouse is situated on a small island, Oroe, in Isefjorden. It sits almost at the end of a gravel road, on a bluff, with direct access to the fjord from the house. Oroe is about 1,5 hour’s drive from Copenhagen, and 1 hour from Roskilde. The house was built in 1965 by our parents, and was taken over by us, in 2015. We have been carefully renovating and modernizing it since then, but attempt to keep the original 1960’s retro ambience, with its charms and shortcomings. There is no spa, no air-condition and no TV installed – we are fans of old-fashioned summer house activities such as reading, playing games, ball or cards and know how difficult it can be to get down to them with a TV in the room. This is our second year on Airbnb. The house consists of the house itself, with a living room with dining area, a bedroom with a double bed, a kitchen and bathroom, and an additional building with a bedroom facing East. The additional building is heated by electrical heaters, and the main building by an air to air heat pump and a fire place insert. You will find a shed with firewood outside. Between the buildings, with direct access from the kitchen, you find the ‘breakfast patio’. Towards West, directly outside the living room, you find the newly renovated (covered) patio, perfect for lunch and dinner, and from where you enjoy the sunset and the beautiful view over the fjord. The beach is extremely child-friendly with a long patch of shallow water. If you walk out a bit further, you will find it perfect for swimming or fishing. The house is in the middle of the island's hot spot angling. To get to the beach directly from the house, you must descend a rather steep bluff. Due to nature protection regulations there are no stairs in the bluff. It is possible however, to get to the beach by going back along the gravel road to a small beach camping, which also operates a small kiosk during the summer. You get to Oroe by one of the two ferries: One sails from (4300) Holbaek, a lovely provincial town with plenty of shopping opportunities, museums and cafes, approximately every 2 hours. The other, a small cable ferry, sails from Hammer Bakke near (4050) Skibby, every 20 minutes from 06.00 to 24.00. Be aware, that it may be cheaper to buy a ticket coupon on the cable ferry if you plan to come that way several times. The island offers you peace and quiet, it has a supermarket, a church and a few places to eat out. You can rent bikes at the Ø-kontor. Read more about the island here: (Website hidden by Airbnb) You have access everywhere, except for a private room in the annex. At extra costs we offer the use of a secluded laptop-friendly workspace in the private part of the annex. Please enquire. As a rule check-in is done by key-box. Code for the keybox will be provided approximately one week before your arrival. During your stay we, or one of us, will be available 24/7. Read more about the island on the website: oroe.dk In our experience, the charms of Orø's villages and places to eat out are best explored on bicycle, which can be rented from the tourist office on the Holbæk-ferry harbour or in Holbæk. To enjoy the island's beautiful nature, we recommend the 'trampestier', a series of foot paths that will lead you through the different types of landscapes and vegetation. Wear good water-proof hiking shoes as the paths are occasionally flooded. You'll find the map of 'trampestier' in the Orø-brochure in the house. The farmers kindly ask that you stick to the paths and do no not cross the farm lands. For visiting the many places of interest in Hornsherred and Odsherred we recommend you go by car - or plan a bicycle day-trip. If you plan on visiting Holbæk, the Holbæk ferry lands right in the town centre. Make sure to check out the time-schedule for returning to Orø, though;) From Holbæk there are one or two connections every hour toRoskilde and Copenhagen. Even if you bring your own car, it can be an advantage to take the train to Copenhagen where parking lots are scarce and expensive. We do not add cleaning fees, but expect our guests to leave our house in the same condition as it was taken over: clean and tidy. We supply bedlinen, towels etc. However, for environmental reasons, please bring your own bedlinen if your stay is shorter than 4 nights. (In case you forget or it is too much of a hassle, bedlinen is still available at the house - just let us know)
