Relax in our dreamy, round, spacious, hand-built, off-the-grid guest house. During your stay unwind in a private 108 degree natural hot mineral spring on our tree and plant filled acre in the historic downtown bathhouse district, walking distance to everything. The dome and property are the subject of a book titled The Good Life Lab which won the Nautilus award for sustainability & lifestyle, written by your host. Enjoy a break from commodified life in our temporary autonomous zone. Our property hosts two sets of guests and your hosts. We curate our one acre to be a quiet, retreat-like setting that attracts creatives (writers & artists etc), contemplatives, nature lovers (trail runners, hikers, birders), and the like. To maintain a restorative and healing environment guests should feel a fit for what we're about. ABOUT THE DOME • The dome is a private guest house situated in a corner nook of an acre-sized, private, earthen-walled property * Our 108 degree hot spring is in a large, enclosed, open-air area where you can view the night sky and the sunrise. It is used by guests and your hosts alike, but not at the same time. Dome guests may soak as much as they like on odd hours (1, 3, 5, 7pm etc...) day or evening. • Inside the dome it is extremely quiet due to 1' thick walls • There is no cooking in this space. The dome is stocked with what’s needed for heating up restaurant left overs, and making coffee/tea - (mini fridge; microwave, electric kettle, French press) • The dome is pet-allergen and chemical free. We clean with natural materials: essential oil, baking soda, simple soap, vinegar and scent free detergent. • High speed wifi 40MB accessible in the dome and on our two shady porches - rock solid and reliable • Ductless heating and AC unit that you control • Off street private parking • Off-the-grid on PV solar • Fruit trees, birds & bee hives. A casual and laid back, natural environment for forgetting about the big stuff, relax! * We have an old cat named Scaredy Cat NOTE: while the dome has a 2 day max stay, if your a writer or artist seeking a working retreat please let us know and we can consider an arrangement for a longer stay. While hot springs are also used by your host and other guests, each guest is assured complete privacy while they are soaking. Dome guests may soak on odd hours (1, 3, 5, 7.. etc). SOAK AT YOUR OWN RISK. No radios. Our property has two outdoor porches with wi-fi. For guests who wish to socialize, when we're in town we enjoy connecting and always make recommendations of things to do. We meet and greet upon arrival when we're not away If we are hosting a BBQ, bonfires or backyard gathering our guests are always invited. When we are traveling check-in instructions are provided for self check in. Located in the historic hot bath house district in downtown TorC. Walk to cafes, restaurants, yoga, movie theater, book stores, a nearly year round swimming pool, the Rio Grande, and eclectic thrift shops. In less than one hour you can be hiking the Apache Kid Wilderness, at the Spaceport, or in Hatch where you can get famous green chili. Truth or Consequences is a very casual place that's keynote is relaxation. Most locals rise and set with the sun. The town can feel as though it's in a time warp. Some say we're stuck around 50's or 70s. If you love nature, walking and hiking, meandering by rivers and lakes, gazing at the night sky, taking in sunsets, and soaking in hot springs you'll be delighted. We have many talented body workers too! Check the web site Go Sierra County for area event listings. Always call ahead before going to an activity or restaurant, TorC businesses keep odd hours! Suggestions: Arrive mid/late afternoon and hit Bullocks grocery store for snacks. Scoot to an dinner early, restaurants don't stay open late here. Walk off dinner with a stroll along the Rio Grande river and up the mesa on the "Healing Waters Trail." Pop into the brewery for entertainment and to meet friendly locals. Our fav restaurants are casual: A&B Burger, Outer Edge Pizza, Grapevine Bistro, Giddy Up Cafe, and the Full Moon Food Truck. FOr the sweet tooth enjoy Passion Pie coffee shop and bakery. We have a historic movie theater and many cute shops including Desert Archaic (gallery and handmade gifts), Dust and Glitter (cool stuff), to name a few. Art lovers will be blown away by Rio Bravo Gallery. We have loads of bodyworkers, consider a massage or treatment. On Tuesday’s you can try out various bodyworkers at the clinic at Studio De La Luz just a block away. In season, book a tube ride down the Rio Grande with Captain Bob You can walk to anything in downtown TorC and to many hikes
