Charming, relaxing retreat, 2 dbl beds, pool, near Nogaro

This is a cute and quirky holiday apartment for up to 4 adults, set in the quiet Gers countryside. The front door opens to the entrance hall. Here you’ll find a drinks station with kettle, coffee machine, tea and coffee supplies. There’s a small wine fridge for wine and water in one of the two spacious bedrooms. To the right of the entrance hall is “Olive” with a double bed, built-in double wardrobe, table and chairs, reversible heating/air conditioning and French doors opening to a small , south-facing balcony with bistro table and chairs for two. From “Olive” you access the shared “Jack-and-Jill” bathroom which comprises semi-sunken bath, shower cubicle, twin hand basins, bidet and WC. A door from the entrance hall opens to the rear lobby with a WC and wardrobe, and a door to “Palm” bedroom. This bedroom also has a double bed, reversible heating/air conditioning, a wall-mounted TV (Netflix, Amazon TV and some French channels). Double French doors open to a large covered balcony with table and chairs for four people. A few steps away, on a lower level, is the pool house kitchen, the 10m x 5m swimming pool (chlorine) and spacious south-facing terrace. The pool is open mid-May to mid-September. The kitchen is equipped with a large fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, two-ring hot plate, cafetière (coffee press) and washing machine. There’s also a breakfast bar with bar stools. The main dining table outside can be shaded by an electric sun awning. The pool has Roman steps at the shallow end and a ladder at the deep end. Relax on your sun beds around the pool with a chilled drink and enjoy the peace and quiet. There’s a WC and shower adjacent to the kitchen. All bed linen, towels and pool towels are provided. Welcome to the Gers, birthplace of d’Artagnan (visit the d’Artagnan museum at Lupiac) and home to Armagnac. The bustling town of Nogaro is a 10-minute drive. There you’ll find several bar/restaurants, take-aways, supermarkets, tourist office and cinema – which sometimes shows films in English (VO – but check that it is indeed English). You’re also only a 5-minute drive to the Circuit Paul Armagnac, a popular motor racing track. Further afield, visit the villages of Aignan, Bassoues, Marciac, Vic Fezensac. You’re only a couple of hours to the Pyrenees if you fancy a mountain walk, or to the Atlantic coast for a bit of surfing. There are leisure lakes outside Aignan and Lupiac. And don’t forget to visit a few vineyards to taste the local Côtes de Gascogne wines, Floc (an aperitif made with Armagnac), Armagnac and, slightly further away, Madiran wine – scientifically proven to be the best red wine for your health!
