B&B in church near Amsterdam: Ground floor room.
Surrounded by the beautiful countryside of North Holland, the former Dutch Reformed church of Etersheim is located next to the Marker lake. This historical heritages is our home since 2002. Since 2012 we have added two nice rooms with private bathrooms for bed and breakfast: This add is for the Ground floor room. You can also look for the add about the spacious Top floor room. This new cozy second guest room is the newest addition to our bed and breakfast. It is situated on the ground floor of the church, next to the entrance hall, in the former pastor's room. The room is suited for 1-2 adults. The small room with high ceiling is furnished with a double bed (1.60 m wide). If you want to sleep separately, it is possible to use a second, high bed (1.60 m wide). (Note: accessible by ladder and with low ceiling) A bar with seats offers a nice view over the fields. Wifi, tourist information about the area and some books and toys are present in the room. You can make coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the room, a sink, fridge and microwave are also present. The private bathroom is located straight across the hallway and contains a shower cabin, toilet and sink. A baby bed, -tub, -chair and potty are available. Enjoy breakfast privately in your room, or upstairs in our family living room with church windows. Outside in front of the room you will find nice seating, just as in the backyard. On a sunny day breakfast can be served in the garden. (The room prices include breakfast.) We live in the church ourselves, and will be present to welcome you, to answer any questions and to serve breakfast. If you have any dietary wishes, please let us know when making your reservation. Check in between 4 pm and 10 pm. Check out before 11 am. Etersheim is an ancient agrarian hamlet, surrounded by wonderful Dutch landscape, and next to the big Marker lake. It's in the center of many walking and cycling routes. Within 10 minutes walking one finds a traditional village school museum and a museum mill with visitors centre. The village is situated between old harbour city Hoorn and touristic towns Edam and Volendam. The agricultural world heritage area Beemster Polder is very close. Open air museums Enkuizen and Zaanse Schans and capital Amsterdam are 30 minutes away by car. A bus (314) drives very frequently straight to Hoorn (15 minutes) in the North and via Edam-Volendam (10 min.) to Amsterdam (30 min.) in the South. It is a good 20 minute walk from the church to the bus stop (Oosthuizen Dorp), or 7 minutes by bike. For travellers by aeroplane, please note that Schiphol airport is located South of Amsterdam, while our B&B is located 35 km North of Amsterdam. Night buses only drive to and from our village on Fridays and Saturdays. Good to know: *In light of the current situation extra attention is given to desinfection in cleaning and preparing the breakfast. It can occur that breakfast can only be served in your room. * This room is not large and therefore not suited for heavily packed guests or 'indoor vacationing during the whole day', for which we would recommend the Top floor room. * The high bed is only accessible via a little ladder and has a low ceiling, and the breakfast room is on the first floor up. * Within the building, smoking is prohibited. * A sweet Golden Retriever dog and a cat also live in the house, obviously not in the vicinity of the guest room. * In this room pets are allowed in concert. * The bus stop 'Oosthuizen Dorp', supermarket and snackbar are 2 km or a 25 minute walk away. * Restaurants are located at 3-5 km. * Bikes can be rented at Keizer Tweewielers (look them up for contact info), we advice to rent them in advance, so they are delivered to the b&b in time. * Amsterdam is well accessible for a day trip, but if you wish to spend all your days in Amsterdam we suggest to choose a b&b closer to the city. * This b&b is not very close to airport Schiphol, which is located South of Amsterdam.
