Spacious self-contained annex in rural setting
Located in a glorious, peaceful rural setting in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the High Weald of East Sussex, our annex offers the perfect get-away for a relaxing, peaceful stay in beautiful countryside. Although situated in the depths of the countryside, we are only a 10 minute drive from the market town of Hailsham which has a good selection of shops and supermarkets (Waitrose, Tesco, Asda). The accommodation, also known as 'Badgers Rest' (we have lots of badgers living in the adjacent woods!) consists of a lovely spacious and light open-plan area with comfortable king size bed, sofa, TV and fold-away table and chairs. A hair dryer is also provided. The kitchen is small, but well equipped with fridge, ceramic hob, combination microwave/oven/grill, kettle, toaster, pots, pans and crockery and glasses. Tea, coffee (fresh and instant), sugar, milk and a small selection of breakfast cereals are also provided. The bathroom consists of a bath and Aqualisa power shower which is over the bath and large electric heated towel rail. The annex is equipped with its own washing machine, iron and ironing board. The annex has its own off-street parking adjacent to the building. There is a small terrace for guests' sole use. We live in the main house so are always on hand to help in any way we can. Old Studdens is a Sussex farmhouse with origins dating back to the 15th Century. The house and annex are situated at the end of a small country lane, surrounded by beautiful woodlands and countryside so if you are looking for a peaceful, rural setting, this is it! There are beautiful country and woodland walks from the front door, or alternatively the South Downs National Park is only a short drive away. The local area has much to offer, whether it is exploring the historic town of Battle (10 miles away), relaxing on the seafront in Eastbourne (14 miles away), soaking up the atmosphere of the Lanes in Brighton (25 miles away) or just simply sampling the delights of one of the many excellent pubs in the local vicinity. We are also ideally situated for anyone attending Glyndebourne, which is only 14 miles away. We are delighted to offer any help or advice to our guests regarding the local area. Our aim is to make your stay both comfortable and memorable. Guests will require their own transport to get to and from Old Studdens. Gatwick airport is one hour away by car and there are two mainline stations (Polegate or Stonegate) within 25 minutes' drive with direct trains to London ( London Victoria or London Charing Cross). We are very happy to report that Superfast Broadband has finally reached our little corner of the East Sussex countryside! So there is now good wifi in the annex for our guests.
